I have wanted to try reusable food pouches for a long time. I am part of several co-ops on Facebook that have everything from cloth diapers to these types of reusable food containers, and I have never actually purchased any because I didn’t want to spend the money and not like them. So, imagine my excitement when I got the chance to review the Yummi Pouch!
I have often seen the packaged food pouches at the grocery store, and loved the concept, but I have been scared to try them because of the negative publicity that they’ve received after mold was found in some…you know the negative publicity- photos and horror stories circulating on Facebook after some poor child gagged on moldy applesauce (or juice) packaged inside of a pouch. Excuse me while I throw up in my mouth a little bit.
The Yummi Pouch removes the potential for revolting mold to grow inside of a food pouch because the pouches can be filled when I’m ready to use them, and cleaned when I’m done using them. I like knowing that what is inside of the pouch is clean and healthy. Another major benefit to the Yummi Pouch is that I know exactly what is going into the pouch; I can make my own pureed food and put it directly into the pouches for my kids to eat. No chemicals, no preservatives- just simple, healthy foods at my disposal that can be easily taken in the car, to the zoo, on road trips, whatever.
We’ve been using the pouches the last few days with applesauce and yogurt in them. I have found that they are easy to fill, easy for my toddler to use, and super easy to clean! I can rinse them out and wash them by hand with a bottle brush, or I can put them in the dishwasher (seriously- who has time to hand wash stuff if they don’t have to?!). They come out clean and free of any weird smells. Super easy! All in all, I am super happy with this product, and as you can see from the pictures, little Miss A is excited about them and being able to feed herself!
Just a bonus: the Yummi Pouch Web site is chalk full of resources for parents, including recipes for baby foods and snacks that work well inside the pouches. How nice of them!
