Looking for a great gift idea for a kid in your life? I have one for you! I recently got the chance to take a peak at the world of personalized story books from Wondrous Ink. The concept is simple: I provide the company with my child’s name and gender, and they provide me with a story that is personalized to my child! Cute idea, right? I thought so! And guaranteed to be a story book that doesn’t simply get lost in the shuffle that can be children’s book shelves!
Each book comes personalized with your child’s name in the title of the story, on high quality paper, and beautifully illustrated. This is a heavy duty little book! I worried, since it is paperback, how it would work out for my toddler, but feeling these books and turning the pages, I can’t see how there would be any accidental rips while reading. That’s a bonus!
The coolest thing about these books, despite the fact that there’s very little variation in the stories from child to child, is that the entire story is customized for the child based on their name: in the book, the main character (who shares a name with your child), goes on an adventure where different characters help him or her understand the unique things about them that make them special. For instance, with my three girls (Ms. K, Ms. M, and Ms. A), the first characteristic identified as special in my girls’ stories are “marvelous” (Ms. M), “kind” (Ms. K), and “amazing” (Ms. A). Very cool, and I love how it encourages the child reading it to think about what makes them special!
