One of my favorite things to do is listen to podcasts. I listen to podcasts so frequently that my kids have started to ask if they can listen to some. Of course, I’m okay with this, as long as its kid friendly. We recently discovered Story Pirates. What are Story Pirates? It’s a kid-centric media company with podcasts that kids are sure to love!
What are Story Pirates
In case you’re wondering what Story Pirates is all about, check it out. Each week, the makers of Story Pirates, take stories submitted by children and they turn them into hilarious podcasts for kids. The Story Pirates Podcast is directed at kids and my kids love it.
Story Pirates is a longstanding arts advocacy and children’s literacy group that began in 2004 in New York City. You’ll notice they are well known for a lot of things, but mostly the improv show in which they turn a kid’s story into an improvised play with original music. They have had lots of guests on the show like Jon Stewart and Aubrey Plaza.
Perfect for Road Trips
We started listening to the Story Pirates Podcast back in November when the Thanksgiving road trips started. If you’re taking a road trip for the Christmas season, you’re going to want Story Pirates in your listening arsenal. Don’t worry, these story pirates don’t steal or teach your kids anything bad.
These Story Pirates take kids imagination and bring it to life. Gimlet, the brand behind Story Pirates, is focused on engaging students and getting them excited about using their imagination. Each podcast that is available will also have a coloring page for the kids to follow along with. Two coloring pages are free, per episode, which means your kids can follow along and bring the characters to life.
