You know what a twofer is right? It’s when you get two things for the price of one. My son, Mister, is having surgery next week to repair an inguinal hernia. Apparently, inguinal hernias are common in kiddos that are born prematurely, and he was born at 35w5d. He also has blocked tear ducts, related to AEC syndrome, so the eye surgeon is going to get in there and try to fix that while he is under anesthesia. So, he’s having a surgerical twofer. Poor little guy!
As if that’s not stress inducing enough, I had to go for ultrasounds on Tuesday and ended up having mammograms as well. Twofer. I told the technician that if I had known I would have to have the mammograms, I would have practiced by slamming my chest in the refrigerator door a few times.
Not to mention the benefit golf tournament that we attended on Friday when all the golfers were called off the course due to inclement weather. The tournament was to benefit the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia. As I’ve mentioned, Mister and I are both affected by AEC syndrome, which is one of the Ectodermal Dysplasia syndromes. So, needless to say, we make an effort to attend the functions that we can in order to help out, since they have done SO much for us! I haven’t yet heard what the proceeds were from the tournament, but I can almost guess that they suffered from the less than ideal turn of events. If you ever feel inclined to give to a charity, I tell ya, the NFED is a Gold STAR foundation! And of course, charitible contributions are tax deductible here in the US. If you do give, make it in honor of Mister. The gals at the NFED would get a kick out of that.
I’m also trying to learn html, ftp, and scripting. Busy, busy!
