I have a general bucket list, as most people do, that lists things that I would like to do at some point in my life. Things like skydiving, snorkeling, and running a half marathon. I’d aim for a full marathon, but like to do things incrementally. First a 5K, then a half marathon, then a marathon.
With our recent family vacation, which I have to finish telling you about, I started thinking about my vacation bucket list. You know, all the places I want to GO and SEE. The trick to being able to visit them all will be planning affordable family vacations. My husband is a real budget guru, so I’ve no doubt that I will get to most, if not all, of them.
My vacation bucket list top ten are:
- Fall Foliage Tour of the Northeast coast (think Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine)- I have heard that the colors are glorious, and I could think of no better way to tour the Northeast coast than visiting a bunch of B&B’s along the way.
- London- I have always wanted to visit London Hospital. Strange, I know.
- Mississippi Gulf Coast- I want to take the kids to the INFINITY Science Center at NASA Stennis Space Center. I think they (and I) would get a real kick out of it.
- Yellowstone National Park- of course I want to see Old Faithful.
- Las Vegas- but not for the reasons most people visit. I want to visit The Church at South Las Vegas. Of course, we’d do a helicopter tour of the Hoover Dam, as well.
- Grand Canyon National Park- I want to visit both the North Rim and the South Rim.
- Rocky Mountain National Park- I want to see the great Continental Divide.
- Cruise- I don’t care where, just put me on the boat!
- Santee, California- I want to take the kids to the Creation and Earth History Museum. Of course, we would visit the Santee Boulders and Santee Lakes while there.
- Meramec Caverns in Stanton Missouri- because they’ve been in my backyard all of my life, and I have never been.
There are many more places on my bucket list. In all honesty, I don’t really care which ones we go to, as long as we can go as a family!
Oh, and we need a clean bathroom, a place for the kids to play, and decent horseback riding trails nearby.
What’s on your vacation bucket list?

Good choices. London is amazing. While I didn’t visit the hospital, I found London to be beautiful, full of history and loaded with some of the most friendly/kind people you will ever meet.
My travel bucket list:
1 Dublin, Ireland. I am fascinated by all things Irish. I am Irish on my paternal grandfather’s side and I would love to go see some of the local sites and hang out with the local people.
2. Germay- the whole country, most of my ancestors came from here. I’d love to see where they lived.
3. Portland, Oregon- just looks gorgeous and I have heard it is very “Crunchy” which is right up my alley.
4. New York City- I am a theatre junkie and I can’t believe I haven’t been to NYC to see a show on Broadway yet!!!
5. New Zealand/Australia- I’ve just always wanted to go.
6. Capetown, South Africa- to see my old roommate and to go on a Safari. 🙂
7. Kingston, Jamaica- to visit dear friends we made while my husband was in Chiropractic school.
8. Alaska- It just seems so different. I would love to go see the stark contrast in weather as compared to where I live (in Texas)
9. Vancouver, Canada. It just seems like such a beautiful citiy
10. Paris, France- I have already been once, but I need to go back with my husband. He would be just as in love with that city as I am. My favorite place I have ever been to date. I would like to visit other surrounding cities as well.
Meremec Caverns is really neat, I haven’t been in a while though. I can’t imagine taking my boys there until they are closer to your kids age, but we are going to go camping sometime at Meramec State Park it is great, if you go make sure to take flashlights because they have some great caves there in the park too! I also love that they have a lot of playgrounds and hiking trails, I bet Mister and Sister would love it too.
I’d love to go to London some day.
And yes, you must go on a cruise. It’s so much fun and the food is endless.
I want to see Las Vegas too! I am only 11 hours away but have yet to see that city.
I’ve been to a few, but differently (like I’ve been to London, but not to London hospital).
Well I wanted to visit NYC but I did that last weekend we want to go to Jamaica and Italy.
Hawaii, Italy, and Ireland are definitely on my list.
I’d say Hawaii, Las Vegas, Italy, Los Angeles, and Cancun.
I would love to go to a lot of the places you mentioned, especially Las Vegas. However, I would most like to visit Ireland! I really hope to make it there one day.
I would really like to travel through Europe.
Oregon is on my list too.
