I am seriously excited to tell you all that I completed The Skippo Trail Race 10K this morning and earned my finishers mug!

The Skippo Trail RaceIt was such a wonderful morning for a trail run, too!  The temperature was about 45 degrees, which is just phenomenal for running.  I hit the starting line layered in a Tek Gear Performance Tee and my Skippo long sleaeve techincal tee and a pair of cold weather running pants.  Of course, I wore a ball cap to keep my noggin warm. I also wore my CamelBak Hydration Pak, since I can’t run without water.

Let’s do this! My first #10K #trail #race #run #fitfluential #sweatpink #igfitmoms #fb

The Skippo Trail Race is started in waves, and I dutifully went to the back of the line, where we slower runners were to stand.  When I ran the trail last weekend, I finished the 6.2 miles in 1:43:59, at a 16:46 min/mile pace.  My goal was to run a 15 min/mile pace today.  I knew I would have to walk (or crawl) up the infamous flight of 200 stairs, and walk (or crawl) up heart attack hill, because I am just not fit enough to run them.  My hope was to run everything else.  Somewhere around the 3 mile mark, I had to slow to a walk and take off my hat, as I was getting too hot and I knew I’d cool off quickly by taking it off the hat.  Once I’d cooled enough, I picked up the pace and ran again.  That worked until around the 5 mile mark, where I had to slow to a walk again and  take off the CamelBak and peel off my Skippo Tee, which I tied around my waist.  I refastened my race bib to my CamelBak straps after I put it back on.  Once again, when I started running again once I was cooled off.

Even with the little bit of walking I did, I crossed the finish line in 1:32:02, at a 14:49 min/mile pace!  Woop!  Talk about smashing limits! Next year, I will wear a lighter pair of pants, and just a racerback tee under my long sleeve shirt.

In other news, I passed the 40lb weight loss mark this week (on November 4th), which means I am halfway to goal.

I’m not where I wanna be, but I’m not where I used to be… #fitfluential #sweatpink #igfitmoms #fb
