The Action Bible review

Mister is at the age (7) where he loves action stories, comic books, and super heroes.  He also loves to read.  Of course, I love to feed his desire to read, so whenever I get a chance to provide him with reading material that is action oriented, involves super heroes, AND is wholesome, I usually jump at it. When the opportunity to review The Action Bible, a compilation of 215 fast-paced Biblical narratives in chronological order as an old school comic strip, I excitedly waved and chanted “pick me, pick me!”

The artwork in this Bible is not just amazingly colorful and detailed, it is visually appealing to all ages.  This isn’t flanel graph, y’all, it’s Bible story telling for contemporary kids!

Mister is nothing short of enthralled with The Action Bible.  Of course, he still loves his NIrV Super Heroes Bible and reads it all the time.  But this one?  This is the one he’ll take to bed with him for his reading hour.  Then in the morning, he’ll ply me with a list of “Mom, did you know’s”

Some of the scenes in this Bible are a little graphic, but let’s face it, some scenes in the Bible are not idyllic!  The Action Bible is recommended for ages 6 and up, and I certainly think that it is appropriate for those ages.

I love watching Mister read a story in The Action Bible, then read the same story in his NIrV Super Heroes Bible to see how they compare.  I would definitely recommend The Action Bible to anyone who has a child that loves comic book type stories and wants to get their child to read more of the Bible, understanding of course that this is NOT a regular Bible.
