Every year our church sends kids to church camp. This year myself and my best friend Amanda have the pleasure to be able to take the junior high and senior high girls to camp (she’s taking junior high, I’m taking senior high). My husband is going with the elementary age group. We like to make our students feel special, so were brainstorming ideas of what would be great to get for the girls to go to camp. We wanted to make sure that whatever we got, we could use for any of the age groups and we really like the idea of making up some summer camp goodie bags for kids. We browsed around the Oriental Trading Company site, and we were amazed at the selection of things we found that would work!
Oriental Trading Company really is a great one stop shop for just such the occasion. Instead of having to search fifteen different stores for things our students would like, we had to narrow our list down to keep it feasible! Here’s what we selected…

We wanted to get the kids backpacks that they’re able to color on the way down to camp, because it is a 4 hour drive. Trusting me this is going to be a lifesaver. Oriental Trading Company also has a great selection of markers to color these DIY bags. Since this is a church camp we selected journals that they can DIY as well. Our campers love DIY projects, so we also selected DIY slap bracelets. We also have water bottles for those hot days, to make sure they stay hydrated. We selected flash lights for nighttime. These flashlights are small flashlights with keychain hooks on them, so the kids can clip them to their bags so they won’t lose them. And just for a bit of fun and flair we got them glow sticks. Glow sticks are always a hit for summer camp because it makes the kids feel special and they are a lot of fun. Last year the girls wrote messages with them, which was really neat.
Our Family Life Director will add some small snacks or candy to their bags to top them off. I can’t wait to see the students faces when they see what we’ve put together for them!
