The day after the tornado hit at Lambert Airport in St. Louis, which is merely three miles from our home, the airport is closed indefinitely and Governor Jay Nixon has declared a State of Emergency for Missouri.
The following video, which was posted on YouTube, shows the tornado passing the windows of the terminal. Watch the wind as it swirls past the window.

The damage is widespread.
Please pray for the people in the St. Louis Metro area, where Lambert Airport was badly damaged, and all others affected by the path of these storms!
I can’t believe ho calm people were. I would be freaking out.
I’m glad you are safe. That was definitely scary last night. It was the first time since I have lived here (12 years) that I had actually been worried. To close for my comfort, that’s for sure.
My best to all those who had their homes damaged. 🙁
I’m sorry but if I saw a tornado I WOULD NOT have been sitting there by the glass windows watching it. I mean, thanks for the video shot but those people could have lost their life. Our friend was at the airport when it happened. He is a Marine and was coming home. We use Lambert all the time and lived in St Louis. I don’t ever recall seeing a tornado in the city like that.
Glad you are safe! Susie
I’m so sorry for all the devastation!
OH MY GOSH that first video had me chilled to the bone that was scary!
Kansas girl here, I thought that first video was pretty cool. I think the airport is one of the safest places a person can be during a tornado. Well, not near that window of course. If it woulda been an F5, imagine an airplane going through a window. YIKES!
I do pray for everyone that was affected. It would really stink to come home after time away only to find your car destroyed by a tornado in the airport. 🙁
Oh my goodness, I can’t believe they were just standing there watching a tornado! I will be praying for all of them.
very scary stuff. We had a tornado touch down less than a mile from our house last summer – our entire subdivision was considered “totaled” and we all had to get new roofs. I will definitely keep everyone in the St. Louis area in my thoughts.
Oh my gosh! That is crazy! I can’t believe the people in the airport were still standing by the window. Yikes.
So glad you guys are ok!! The photos are shocking.
