Do you ever feel like you are running out of space? I frequently do. We have totes with clothes in them, that have been passed down to us, for the sizes the kids are going to grow into. We have extra linens for when my husbands family comes to visit. We have sleeping bags. Etc, etc, etc.
I recently had an opportunity to review Space Bag Storage Products. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials, with the little jingle “More space in your place, more space in your place, Space Bags!”
I’ve seen Space Bag commercials plenty of times, but have just never thought to grab any while out shopping.
ITW Space Bag is the global leader in the development and marketing of innovative, space-saving storage products. With more than 100 million Space Bag products sold in the past Space Bag products are also distributed in over 30 countries worldwide. With their continued strong TV advertising campaigns, Space Bag has established itself as one of the most recognizable storage products, and consumer loyal brands worldwide.
In 1993 the Space Bag brand was founded, and in 2002 it was acquired by Illinois Tool Works (NYSE: ITW), a $14 billion diversified manufacturer of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables. Now a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITW, the company’s name has changed to ITW Space Bag, and its growth continues.
Located in San Diego CA, ITW Space Bag manufactures its line of compressible vacuum-seal bags in the U.S.A. and are sold in every major retail channel, including mass merchant, specialty retail, catalogues, home improvement, supermarket, drug, home shopping television and direct response television. Space Bag products are also distributed in over 30 countries worldwide.
Of course, any time I take out the vacuum, Mister and Sister insist that they need to help.
I placed a sleeping bag and two blankets in one large space bag.
The first space bag had the traditional single zipper design.
I have to admit, I struggled a bit with the first space bag. I kept slipping the little zipper off the end of the bag by accident, and then had a hard time getting it back on. Once I figured it out, though, it was fairly easy going. I used the vacuum to remove the excess air from the bag and I couldn’t believe how much the bags shrank. As it turned out, I did have to remove one of the blankets from the first bag, because the seal wouldn’t remain with both in there. I suppose I should have paid attention to the “fill line” the first time around. After I removed the second blanket, and the contents were just below the fill line, Mister assisted me with vacuuming the air out the second time. With the appropriate amount of contents, the bag retained its seal.
I paid closer attention to the fill line with the second bag, and placed a sleeping bag and full sheet set in it. The second bag had the new double zipper design.
The second bag shrank quickly with help from Mister and the vacuum.
I also used the large cube bag for linens. I placed a full size comforter, extra pillow, bed skirt, and afghan in it.
It worked beautifully. Now I get to clean out my closet using the rest of my space bags.
Space Bags currently has a triple offer on their site. When you purchase 1 set, you get 2 sets free. For $19.94 plus S&H, you get 3 XL cubes, 3 large bags, 3 medium bags, and a free portable organizer.
I would certainly recommend Space Bag Storage Products to anyone who wants to maximize their storage options.
Space Bag also has a Space Savers community, where you can get great tips on saving space and find savings opportunities, as well.

Thanks for the great pics to go with the review. I have been wanting to see these things in action for real for awhile. I definitely need some of these for out of season clothes. My boys have so many clothes it is insane.

Kathleen- I do try to include photos in my reviews for that very reason. I love to see a real person using the product when I read a review. That being said, I realized tonight I can’t find photos I took for another review. Ugh. LOL.

Space Bags are amazing. I use them for seasonal clothes so they don’t get yucky from sitting in the basement. They work really well. I seem to purchase these quite often.

Nichol- Out of season clothes will be the next project I tackle with the Space Bags, once I get the linens under control!

I love my space bags cubes, but the regular ones did well until I opened them then small tears developed. The cubes though are still kicking, these are a must for my home and any other that has a lack of storage space!
Dee says
We use our cubes OFTEN! I’m keeping all of our baby clothes in case of a #3 and this has helped!!
admin says
Dee- baby clothes storage is perfect for the Space Bags! I am even thinking of moving all of our “to grow into” clothes into the cubes.

These are a super product for those of us who live in small spaces (or those of use who buy too much!). Great for the sleeping bags like you showed, otherwise they get all stuffy when you don’t use them for so long. I love how you got your son involved in the process too!
Tee says
I totally need to try these out. I live in tiny quarters and the bags look like they’ll come in handy. Do you think I could use them to store stuff animals? =)
admin says
Tee- I think the storage cubes would work better for the stuffed animals than the storage bags.
Tee says
That totally makes sense. I’ll talk to Hubby. He’s ready to throw out our stuffed animal collection.

We have a lot of extra bedding that gets shoved into the top of closets. I have almost bought these numerous times, but wondered if they really worked. Thanks for the review!
