Have you heard of Shushybye and Goodnight?
A few months ago my beautifully angelic daughter decided that she would display a newfound talent, and go from Gizmo to Gremlin at the stroke of naptime or bedtime.
Oh my my! My daughter can shriek like you would not believe. I honestly think that if she concentrated real hard, she could break glass.
Right around the time that Gremlin started visiting our home, I learned of Shushybye at The Product Review Place. SHUSHYBYE is a preschool entertainment and lifestyle brand designed to inspire children to look forward to sleep time and help parents prepare their children for sleep in a fun and loving way that encourages imagination. Importantly, SHUSHYBYE helps create healthful sleep habits for toddlers and preschoolers.
Desperate for something that would help us transition into naptime without the appearance of Gremlin, I requested to review the Shushybye products. I was fortunate to receive the Shushybye: Close Your Eyes book as well as the Shushybye & Goodnight Deluxe Edition CD for review.
The colorful and fun-filled debut Shushybye bedtime storybook comes with an audio CD of the entire story narrated by Shushybye’s official storyteller Kenny Curtis and the Shushies! Plus, three original Shushybye songs, including the rockin’ “Close Your Eyes”!!
The music CD everyone’s singing about! Featuring 16 hit original Shushybye songs performed by Michael North and The Shushybye Dream Band – Lots of the most popular Shushy hits plus four never-before-released favorites!
The Shushies who live in Shushybye make dreams that are delivered to children in Shushybye Dream Boxes by Conductor McCloud and the Shushybye Train as they fall asleep. Living in such Shushybye villages as Nap Valley, Snore Shore, Slumber Heights and Yawn Island, the Shushies love to make dreams – and they also love music. After they make their dreams for the night, the Shushies gather in Pillow Park to dance to the live music of Rockin’ Shushie and The Shushybye Dream band.
What I thought…
The Shushies are extremely cute. The Shushybye Close Your Eyes book is well written and well made. The illustrations are very cute and colorful. The book is fun to read, and the characters are easy to fall in love with. I mean, who couldn’t love these characters, right?
My personal favorite is Snoozles. I just think he is incredibly adorable.
The Shushybye Close Your Eyes CD, that is included with the book, is fantastic. The up-tempo SHUSHYBYE songs are catchy, toe-tapping and fun. The lullaby SHUSHYBYE songs are melodic, soft and sweet. The songs are memorable, and by the time you have listened to it a few times, you will catch yourself singing Oh, my, my.
The Shushybye and Goodnight Deluxe Edition CD is great, as well. It has 12 all-time Shushy hits plus 4 never released before favorites. This CD is honestly my favorite. The songs are just too stinking cute.
That being said, Sister absolutely will not sleep to the Shushybye music. When the Shushybye music comes on, she wants to clap and dance (i.e. the up-tempo songs) but doesn’t want to settle down when the lullaby Shushybye songs come on. That may have something to do with the fact that she has always only listened to instrumental lullabies at bedtime. So, when the words come on, she thinks its time to play. Tonight, though, she went to bed a lot easier than it has been in weeks. So, perhaps the Shushies are waiting for her on Snore Shore.
What I would change…
I wouldn’t change anything about the book or the CD’s as they are. I would, however, like to see an instrumental only version of the CD, for those little ones who just can’t settle down when someone is singing in the room.
I can’t fault the Shushies that my little one needs instrumental only music. I started that when she was less than a week old.
