Special thanks to Rubbermaid for making this post possible. All opinions are my own.
Our family schedule is about to get busy. I mean, crazy busy. Our son is on a baseball time. He and our oldest daughter are on swim team. Our oldest daughter will be getting tutoring twice a week for her dyslexia. Add to that summer camps, VBS, and other activities, and I’ll feel like the proverbial mom taxi. With that said, on the go portion control is about to become super important. With recent health issues, the scale isn’t doing me any favors, so I can’t afford to be snacking at the concession stand. I figure if crazy schedules and the need for portion control plans are necessary for me, they may be for you as well, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite on the go portion control tips.
On The Go Portion Control
Plan for Meals Out
Chances are, you’re going to have to eat a meal out here and there. Consider using a system like the new Rubbermaid Balance Meal Kit.
Rubbermaid Balance Meal Kit is the newest addition to Rubbermaid’s food storage portfolio that consists of four pre-portioned containers. It allows for quick and easy meal prep for the days you must eat away from home. This system has containers that take the guesswork out of portion control for protein, grains, fruits and vegetables. Simply fill the containers with the appropriate food, grab your keys, and you’re on your way!
Benefits of the Rubbermaid Balance Meal Kit
- Specifically portioned – each container holds a proper serving size to create one balanced meal
- No need to measure – pre-portioned protein, grain, fruit and vegetable containers
- All-in-one solution – convenient carry box for healthy meals on-the-go
- Microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe
- BPA-free
Make Your Own Snack Packs
The budget doesn’t have to be sacrificed because of time. Go ahead and buy your healthy snacks in bulk, then pre-portion everything. Whether you’re going to be munching on raw carrots, crackers, berries, or nuts– get into the habit of portioning out your snacks into individual bags so that you don’t over-munch.
Drink Water
It is so incredibly easy to become dehydrated when you’re living life in the fast lane and early symptoms of dehydration can mimic hunger (i.e. make your belly rumble). Sip water throughout the day and drink the equivalent of a bottle of water (16 ounces) before you eat. When you are well hydrated, it’s easier to avoid over eating.
Don’t Skip Meals
Seriously, eating balanced meals is so incredibly important. When you’re constantly on the go, it is easy to fall into the habit of skipping a meal here and there. Just don’t do it. The hungrier you are, the more likely you are to scarf down more than you need. Make sure to include protein and fiber in your meals, to keep those munchies at bay, too.
