We love learning about animals around here. Right now we are learning about biomes (a fancy way to say habitat) and the animals that live in them. One of my favorite animals is the lion. This lion paper plate craft is a cute way to be creative while learning about animals. Keep reading to see how to make your own!

Lion Paper Plate Craft Directions
- After gathering all of the supplies, you will first paint your paper plate yellow and let it dry. If you’re working with the kiddos, consider painting the plate ahead of time. 😉
- Use a hand held hole punch
to punch holes all the way around the edges of the plate.
- Cut your yellow yarn
into 5″ pieces (one for each hole you punched)
- Cut your orange yarn
into 5″ pieces (one for for each hole you punched)
- Place one yellow and orange piece of yarn together, slide through one hole, and tie into a double knot (repeat for each hole).
- Glue two googly eyes
onto the top front of your lion plate.
- Use a black permanent marker
to draw a nose and mouth below the eyes.
- *Optional* you can hang your lion by a 10 to 12 inch length of yarn looped through the top/center of the mane or taped to the back of your lion. Alternatively, affix a magnet to the back and give him a home on your refrigerator!
