Mister and Sister are super excited about getting a baby sister. Not a day goes by that they don’t ask when Little Miss is coming. Sister has started telling me all the things she is going to help me with when it comes to the baby. She’s going to play with her, read her stories (she can’t read yet), get her dressed, and feed her bottles. I can’t wait to see how she really handles it.
While Sister really wants to help Little Miss with her bottles, I have seen her help other baby’s with their bottles, and quite honestly, she wasn’t very good at keeping the bottle upright to keep the little ones from sucking a bunch of air.
When I saw the Li’l Helper, I thought it would be the perfect solution for my Little Helper. The Li’l Helper is a bottle holder that holds most bottle sizes. Its ergonomic design allows the wide end to rest on baby’s chest, which holds the bottle in baby’s natural nursing posture. It is BPA free and is designed with a tiny rattle in one end.
I think feeding time is the best bonding time between Mom and baby (and have never propped a bottle). I do want Sister to be able to help with feeding Little Miss, though, and share in the bonding without inducing gas or colic. I’ve parented one colicy baby, and would not like to repeat the experience.
I decided to give the Li’l Helper a try and let Sister “practice” on one of her dolls. I set the wide end of the Li’l Helper on the dolls chest, and let Sister hold the other end. I told her that the Li’l Helper had to be touching the baby at all times.
She loved it, and was careful to hold the bottle gently while keeping the Li’l Helper in place. Once Little Miss is big enough, she can grip the handles to hold her own bottles. Once she is able to hold it all by herself, the Li’l Helper will entertain her as a rattle. Learn more by liking Li’l Helper on Facebook.
Li’l Helper graciously provided the above product for me for the Baby Shower Gift Guide and has offered to supply one Li’l Helper for giveaway (US & Canada) in the upcoming Baby Shower Bonanza Giveaway!
