It’s Officially Tight Season

As I mentioned recently, I’ve lost a bit of weight (50 lb) and all of my clothes were making me feel frumpy.  You’d think, at the ripe old age of almost 39 years, I’d know how to dress myself.  I don’t though.  I need help.  Serious help. There’s a vast difference between trying to dress a 225lb body and hide all the lumps and bumps and dressing a 175lb body and accentuate the right curves.   At my heaviest, I steered clear of anything remotely form fitting.  Leggings and tights were out of the question, which has always been a bummer during tight season.  And let’s face it, it’s officially tight season!  I’ve been reading a lot of style articles recently, trying to figure out how to bedeck this new body of mine, and after reading Yahoo Style’s Looking Tight in Tights, I decided to try adding some tights and leggings to my wardrobe.  It was my hope that me looking tight in tights did not resemble a sausage casing.

I started with classic black, because well.. it’s minimizing.  I was a bit unsure of whether or not I’ve lost enough weight to pull it off tights.  I paired the black tights with a side ruched top and my slouch ankle boots.  The top has metallic gold threads in it, so some gold drop earrings and a fun fringed pendant necklace finished off the outfit.

With my esteem still intact after I saw the effect of the classic black, and duly noting that Yahoo Style insists that winter does not need to be all black and drab, I added a fun pair of zebra print tights.  I’ll confess, print and colored tights intimidate me.  That said, I bit the bullet and paired my new zebra print tights with my Bullet Blues Camille Short Dress and my black slouch ankle boots.  A pair of silver and purple beaded hoop earrings was the perfect touch to complete this ensemble.

Pairing the patterned tights with boots and the simple tunic style of the dress made for a super fun look.  Yah, I can pull that off!  Now that I’ve discovered I can wear print tights and get away with it, I’ve been thinking that I’d like to add some Celeste Stein lycra tights, too.  They are so bright, colorful, and cheerful that I am simply in love with them! Seriously, a solid colored tunic, and a pop of color on the legs… talk about cute!  Here’s the prints I have in mind for the Bullet Blues dress above…

I’ll be adding a pair of the Uniqlo Women Heat Tech tights, which I learned about from Yahoo, to keep warm on cold nights!  Speaking of keeping warm on cold nights, Yahoo also has a neat Cold Feet Gift Guide with fun, bright, bold, and CHEAP socks that would make great stocking stuffers.  I’m adding a few pairs to my wish list!

  7. I have these absurd saddle bags, so tights don’t work on my legs, but I wish they looked better because I would wear them all the time.

  16. You look amazing. I just discovered the awesomeness of tights this past year. I wear them all the time. Have a pair on now, but I don’t have any with fun patterns on them. Those patterns look like a lot of bright and bold fun!
