At the beginning of the year, I set a goal for myself to do at least three 5K’s by December and then either a 15K in December (if I’m ready) or a fourth 5K (if I’m not). I had signed up for the Go! St Louis 5K, but was unfortunately unable to go due to the death of a friend. I did the Color Run in May as my first 5K of the year. Well, I am happy to say that I have now logged my second 5K of the year! My family and I went out to Forest Park this morning to do the I Love Forest Park 5K, which is the only run in Forest Park that directly supports Forest Park. We were thrilled to be able to get out and enjoy a morning together while supporting a local treasure!
When I told Mister and Sister that they were going to be in the 5K also, Mister laughed and said, “You’re going down, Mom.” Nothing like a competitive spirit, right?
Poor little guy fell between the first and second mile, and banged up his knees and his hand. He was so upset. I told him that he only had to beat Mommy to be declared the family champion. So, when the finish line was within site, he said, “Hope you’re hungry, Mom, you’re about to eat my dust…”
And yes… he crossed the finish line before me… by seven seconds! But, I finished!
Mister’s ready to run again. Looks like I need to pick my/our next race.
Funnily, I sent my husband a list of races that I’m interested in, and the two that he prefers both have the word “cake” in them. LOL.
I know I want to do the Hot Chocolate in December again. I am not sure if I’ll be signing up for the 5K or the 15K. I don’t think I can pull off a 15K in 99 days! Of course, I could sign up for the 15, and just do the 5 if I’m not ready…
What do you think?
