I am starting this site as a creative outlet. Just a few short months ago, I worked full time as an RN and absolutely loved my career. Then Mister made his entrance and changed our world. My last day of work was literally the day before he was born, and now he’s 3 months old already! The transition from being a full time career nurse to a stay at home mom to a special needs baby has been emotional. But this little guy…. my little Mister melts my heart when he smiles! I preserved his first smile in this cute digital scrapbook page.
Journalling reads: “I first smiled on January 17th for Mommy. I made Daddy wait until January 22nd to see me smile. Then, because it seemed like fun, I made them wait until February 17th to capture my smile on camera. For one whole month, I would smile at random, but then I would cry as soon as they got the camera. It was fun to watch the expressions on their faces. They took over 100 pictures trying to catch me in the act. I finally got tired of the bright light flashing in my eyes, so I gave up and Grinned Big!”
I love that I can capture these moments forever.
Mister was born affected by AEC syndrome, which is one of the ectodermal dysplasias. I’m affected by AEC syndrome, too. While I was pregnant, we knew that there was a 50/50 chance of him being affected. My pregnancy was classified high risk because I had two prior miscarriages, and because my husband had an atrial septal defect. I saw the high risk doc many times, and had many ultrasounds. They kept looking for a cleft lip or palate, which is common in AEC syndrome, or an ASD. With each ultrasound, they told me neither was detected and that he appeared to be perfect.
Mister was born at 35w5d. As I mentioned, he is affected by AEC syndrome… and he’s perfect. Yes, we’re going to face challenges in the years to come. Yes, there will be visits to specialists and special skin care and so much more. But, oh my heart, this little boy is such a gift from God. And all good and perfect gifts come from above.
