One of our favorite family vacations is the trip we took in 2009 to Tennessee. We rented a 4 bedroom cabin near Pigeon Forge and our family of (then) four headed to the Great Smoky Mountains for a winter vacation with his parents and my parents. Yes, a vacation with the in-laws and my parents is one of my favorites. We explored both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the coolness that was the beginning of December.
Mister celebrated his second birthday on that trip, and Sister weaned herself from the bottle to the sippy cup at the tender age of ten months! She also gave me heart palpitations as she repeatedly headed for the stairs in our cabin!
One day we made the trek up to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As we were on our way up, we’d stopped by the side of the rode to take some pictures (I know, tourists… ). That evening, after we returned to our cabin, my Dad realized his work cell phone was not in his pocket. After searching all over the cabin, we determined he had to have dropped it on the side the road. As it was already dark outside, the guys decided we would have to go back in the morning to look for it. It was his work cell phone, and had the phone numbers of all of his customers in it, so it was important. Really, though, what were the chances of actually finding a cell phone on the side of the road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park? That is exactly what happened, though! We found his cell phone and, believe it or not, it was intact! Talk about Divine Providence!
Now, when I catch the scent of pine on the breeze in the winter, I think of that vacation. It’s funny, isn’t it, how a simple scent can cause of wave of images to rush the shore of your memory?
Now, for the first time, A&H Laundry has launched a collection with scents inspired by nature in partnership with the National Park Foundation (which Arm & Hammer is proud to contribute to).
