Getting Fit- May Measurements

I started off Mother’s Day yesterday with my measurements.  LOL.

My husband said that it didn’t sound like much fun to start Mother’s Day with measurements, but, eh hem!  Would you look at those numbers?

First, this week I weighed in at 180.2, which is a 4.6 pound weight loss from my non-loser week last week.  And a total weight loss of 46.2 pounds to date.  WOOT!

Second, my BMI is 29.8  I am no longer classified as obese on the BMI scale!  Can I get a witness?  Seriously!  That— in and of itself— is enough to make me want to jump up and down and squeal with glee!

Third, my BFI, according to my scale, is down to 33.2 percent. Doing a little dance.  Doing a little dance!

AND, for Mother’s Day, Hubs got me an Omron and according to it, my BFI is 31.8.  Which is even better!  I am not sure why there is a 1.4 percent difference between the two.  The only thing I can figure, is the current from the scale goes through my lower body (which is where my fat storage lockers are), whereas the current from the Omron goes through my upper body.

I lost 11.5 inches since April’s measurements, and over 25 inches since I started measuring… four of which was from my hips.  No wonder I had to downsize my undies.

So, starting off with measurements was a GREAT way to start my Mother’s Day!  And the day just got better from there!

This weeks Mamavation question is key to any fitness program…

Do you know when to back off of your efforts? When is the last time you took a step back in the name of gentle kindness to yourself?

I do know when to back off.  As a nurse, I learned that the old saying “No pain, no gain” is actually quite erroneous.  Exercise should not be painful.  The result may be sore muscles, but the process should not be painful.  Pain means stop.  It is the bodies way of shouting, “Hey you— something isn’t right!”  Currently, my exercise routine includes about an hour of cardio (via elliptical trainer) six days a week along with some strength training.  I take Sundays off.  However, this past Thursday, when the alarm went off at 5 a.m., I opened my eyes to what I like to call “fairy dust,” which is what I see right before I get a migraine.  So, I shut the alarm off and went back to sleep.  When I woke up two hours later, sure enough, my head was killing me.  I took some migraine medicine and spent the day resting.  My body was telling me it needed a break.  So, I took one.
