As you all know, I homeschool my children.  As a homeschool Mom, I firmly believe that it is important to train our children for the jobs that will exist in the future, so helping them learn technical skills like programming and web development is something that is on my radar.

My son is already showing an interest in programming and all things technical.  He wants to program his own video games one day. He and Engineer Dad are working together to program a Raspberry Pi. Go figure.

I’m not an engineer.  In fact, some of that stuff seriously confuses me.  I was excited, then, to learn about Webucator.  Webucator is a site that specializes in web development and programming training in the corporate world.  When the CEO of Webucator decided to homeschool his 7th grade daughter, he quickly realized that there weren’t a lot of great free online software and development courses.  In response to this discovery, Webucator decided to make all of their self-paced courses available for free to homeschoolers.  This includes courses on web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), Photoshop, Dreamweaver and many others.

Free Self Paced Software and Web Development Courses for Homeschool Students

Yes, you read that correctly.  You can now register your homeschool student for a self paced web development or programming class for FREE.

Here’s how you do it…

  1. Go to the Self-paced Courses page.
  2. Browse through the courses.
  3. Click the Order Now button next to the course that you wish to enroll your homeschool student into.
  4. Enter HOMESCHOOL for the Coupon Code and click Validate Coupon.
  5. Complete the registration.

That’s all there is to it.  While my son is a bit young for most of these courses, I did sign up for one just to test to make sure that the coupon code works.  And it does.  As I said, the courses are self paced, so your homeschool students will need to have some discipline to get through them, but one of the great things about homeschooling is that it helps us to help our kids develop this kind of discipline.

Which course will your student be signing up for?
