As you know, I have a tendency to not discuss my travel itinerary online as it is happening, for safety reasons. However, with my children lovingly cared for by family and my in-laws house sitting, I thought I would take a moment to share with you the trip I am enjoying at present.
Hubs was assigned ten days at Fort Walton Beach by his employer. Drag, right?
While he flew out on Halloween, we decided that I would wait until Wednesday to follow, which would allow me time to get the kids settled and take care of a few things at home.
I left St. Louis Lambert Airport on Wednesday morning bound for Fort Walton Beach. My itinerary showed that I should arrive in Destin by 2 p.m.
Nature had other plans, and I ended up sitting in the Atlanta airport ALL DAY and EVENING!
I arrived in Destin shortly after 9 p.m.
Fortunately, Nicholas Sparks made a great airport companion, and I whiled away the hours reading The Lucky One. Ironic, right? I was not The Lucky One!
At any rate, on Thursday, before Hubs left for 2nd shift at work, we took a little time to walk the beach.
Gorgeous, if not a bit chilly.
While he was working, I combed the beach in search of seashells. I mean, a beach has to have seashells, right? Not necessarily. Apparently, there are several large sandbars offshore that prevent larger seashells from ever making it to the beachfront in Fort Walton. I was able to find quite a few smaller shells, though.
While it may not be known for it’s seashells, the sunsets in Fort Walton are gorgeous!
Pretty, right?
I’ll share more about our accommodations and adventure in another post.
Hi Virginia! Welcome to Florida! Destin and Ft. Walton Beach are nice areas. I live a bit down the road (about 1 hr.) in a little place called Milton. Enjoy!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time :o) We have family in Ft Walton Beach, Niceville, Destin. It is gorgeous there.
Blessings & Aloha!
Catching up on blog reading before the work week!
Looks like you guys had a good time! I’ve never been to Fort Walton, but have heard great things about it. Beautiful pics!

What a nice place to relax and unwind a bit 🙂 I wish I were somewhere warmer!
You were only about an hour or so away from me. I sure wish I had known – would have given anything to have driven down and met you!!!!!!!!
