As a new school year kicks off, many parents are searching for online math curriculum that is simple and will keep their child engaged in math. If you’re looking for math lessons that are easy to understand and engaging, check out the flexible math lessons from CTCMath. You may recall that we previously sought math help from CTCMath with our oldest daughter, who was struggling with math. We appreciated the bite sized homeschool math lessons from CTCMath, so we’ve maintained our subscription. When I received the opportunity to review the program again, of course I said yes!

What is CTCMath
CTCMath is an online math curriculum. It has lessons from kindergarten through 12th grade, including calculus.

It is great for extra math help, kids who need to catch up, or for kids who are eager to move beyond the head of the class. Kids can move at their own pace, which is awesome.
Flexible Math Lessons with CTCMath
With CTCMath, the video lessons are short and to the point. They are bite sized, really. Students are able to learn at their own speed. They can watch the lesson, rewind the lesson, watch it again. Each video has a set of review questions, to assess understanding.
Students can also do the review questions before watching the video, if they want. This is great for reviews.
With CTCMath, you can allow students to work on lessons they choose, or you can assign tasks. With my older kiddos, I just turn them loose. With my youngest, I assign tasks to her. There are also speed drills and games for additional practice. You can also set the passing grade for each student.
Since my oldest two are able to do whichever lessons they choose, their passing grade is set to 90%. My 2nd grader gets frustrated easily if she doesn’t “pass”, so I have hers set at 80%. I just reassign the lesson the next day, if I think she needs to review it again.
Students can also do lessons from multiple levels. This is great, because my 7yo is proficient in some areas, but struggles in others. I can assign 2 digit addition (no carry) from 3rd grade and division by sharing from 1st grade. CTCMath allows you, as the teacher, to hide the level the lesson is from, so the student isn’t frustrated by doing lessons that are “above” or “below” their grade level.
As I mentioned, the lessons are short. You can determine whether the student answers a bank of 20 questions or more.
CTCMath offers detailed reports on the lessons your student has completed, including how many times they’ve attempted the lesson. This is incredibly useful in knowing what to assign next.
