A few years ago, I started incorporating a short devotional and worship time to our morning gather time. It was around this time that I first discovered faith and science devotionals for kids by Louis Giglio. A friend recommended the first one of the series, Indescribable. We already own quite a few kids devotionals, but bought it anyway and we absolutely loved it. Last year, I purchased the second book in the series. I was really excited, then, when I heard that a third book of devotions for children was being released. I was even more excited when I received an opportunity to review it from !
Faith and Science Devotionals for Kids by Louie Giglio
At present, there are three . They are Indescribable, How Great is our God, and The Wonder of Creation. Each devotional book is a collection of 100 devotions about God and science. Each devotional has a note from Pastor Louie with a quick guide to the major topics covered, including space, earth, animals, and people. This quick list is great for focusing on one aspect of creation.
INDESCRIBABLE
Indescribable displays the majesty of creation with scientific findings, photography, and original illustrations. These 100 devotions encourage awe at God’s creativity with devotions about:
- Space: galaxies, planets, stars, and more
- Earth: geology, oceans, weather, and more
- Animals: hummingbirds, dinosaurs, dragons, poisonous frogs, and more
- People: our minds, bodies, and imaginations
Each of these devotions for kids includes a focus verse, a “Be Amazed” section, with fascinating scientific facts, and a closing prayer. You’ll also find some easy-to-follow, hands-on STEM activities.
HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD
The second book in the God and Science devotional series is How Great is Our God. Like Indescribable, this devotional includes amazing facts, fun illustrations, and captivating photography. These 100 new devotions explore the wonder of God’s handiwork, from the massive to the microscopic.
- Space: the atmosphere and earth’s trip around the sun, and more
- Earth: the pink lake in Senegal, Rocky Mountain Glacier Lakes, Khone Falls, and more
- Animals: anteaters, bats, turtles, and more
- People: allergies, cells, blood, nerves, and more
Similar to the bestselling Indescribable, each children’s devotional includes a focus verse; a “How Great” section, with amazing facts; and a closing prayer. Additionally, this devotional has an index with all the topics covered. I love this.
THE WONDER OF CREATION
Ignite your child’s sense of wonder and awe as they see Scripture come alive through God’s creation. Children will find new delight in God’s creativity with 100 devotions that explore:
- Space: black holes, volcanic moons, gamma-ray bursts, and more
- Earth: rainbow rivers, blue lava, firenados, flowing glaciers, and more
- Animals: honeyguide birds, flying snakes, narwhals, white rhinos, and more
- People: optical illusions, brain freezes, our immune systems, our voice box, and more
Like the previous two books in the series, each devotional includes a focus verse and ending prayer. The “Explore the Wonder” sections for each devotion include amazing facts and some fun-filled STEM activities.
As a Christian parent and homeschool parent, one of my goals is to help my kids develop a sense of wonder. Using the helps with that. My kids can’t get enough of the odd facts and I appreciate how every devotional points back to our Creator. It is obvious that Louie Giglio is passionate about inspiring kids to enjoy, and marvel, at God’s amazing creation. I also love that the illustrations of the kids in the devotionals are multi ethnic.
I’m hopeful that Louis Giglio will release a fourth devotional for children in the series, so we have enough devotions to cover an entire year. I would highly recommend all three of these faith and science devotionals to any parent wanting to inspire their child or children to love nature and the One who created it all.
