Diaper Commercial Controversy

Share the love!

Have you seen the latest Huggies diaper commercial?  It has caused a big stink!

First, let me say that I think the diaper itself is cute.  Huggies could give cloth diapers a run for their money with this one.  My kids run around in their diapers all the time, so this cute diaper would be a fun twist.

However, I personally think the commercial is inappropriate. The gist of the ad is that the kiddo looks stylish even when sporting a dirty diaper.  It portrays this by showing stylish adults pausing to admire the diaper… and in doing so, it zooms in on the little one’s bumm… multiple times.

According to Newsweek and the New York Times, several networks refused to carry the ad.

Of course, the video went viral afterwards, and has probably earned Huggies more hits than any paid ad spots could. It has been viewed on YouTube over 400,000 times.

What do you think?

Be blessed,

Virginia

I agree with Brittany. It is a little weird, but doesn’t make me upset. The diaper itself is ok, but reminds of the 80s lol

I don’t really notice anything inappropriate. I think they did a great job of showcasing the diaper and making the commercial attention grabbing.

I think they are ugly and not cloth like at all but that’s a matter of taste, but the commercial is fine, it is attention grabbing. As a victim of photo theft and having my daughter’s pictures in her cloth diapers being posted on a diaper fetish website, I can assure you the theme of the commercial is not in that dark direction.

Like many others said, Weird, but certainly not offensive to me. I won’t buy the diaper though. Mainly cause I think a “jeans diaper” scream 1992.

I totally agree with you. They could have done this ad in a much different way. The child should not have bin portrayed in such a sexual manner. I hear people saying the ad is geared towards the adults buying them, however Huggies has sold tons of other products without having the kids in the ad being viewed in such an adult manner. As a mother of 2 children in diapers I can only imagine the sick people out there who are liking this ad for all the WRONG reasons. Huggies could have done a MUCH better job with this, and I really hope this is addressed.

When I heard about the “Huggies diaper commercial controversy” I was expecting to see a commercial other than this one. I don’t find anything wrong with it and I actually think it’s kind of cute. I bought my sons several packages of these diapers and I think that Huggies did a good job with the commercial.

is there a diaper commercial that we don’t see the bumm part? we all are staring at the bumms of babes in those commercials, just not in an ‘ahh’ manner as portrayed here. however, when i saw the commercial i though it was a little off because i would not let me tot walk around in only a diaper. around the house, sure but out in public is weird to me (outside of those occasions when there was a mess & not back up clothing of course). i think that we all know what diapers we like for our kids so a fancy-dancy commercial may inform me of a new product, but i don’t need all the ‘flash’.
