I really enjoy cooking, for me it is actually a stress reliever! Preparing meals that are healthy and that the whole family will enjoy are a must for me. Since having children we strive to avoid processed foods and most of our meals are made from scratch. Although there are some nights I need a quick go to meal; so I am always searching for some exciting options. I recently was introduced to Dei Fratelli. Dei Fratelli premium, all natural and gluten free tomato products bring recipes to life with delicious, robust flavors. Picked at the peak of freshness, nutrients are sealed in the canned tomatoes only hours after being taken from the farm. Dei Fratelli canned tomatoes, tomato products and sauerkraut are manufactured by Hirzel Canning Company & Farm, a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated company founded in 1923.
Dei Fratelli was generous enough to send me full-size samples of the following:
- Sloppy Joe Sauce
- Tomato Puree
- Pizza Sauce
- Medium Salsa
Italian meals are one of my favorites to cook…I guess you can say it is in my blood. Naturally I immediately set out to try their tomato puree. We typically enjoy spaghetti a couple of times a month; just so happens the week before I had used up the last of my homemade sauce from the previous year straight from our garden. As I was opening the can, the aroma was amazing-it smelled as if I had just canned the puree myself! The puree has a great texture and taste. I made some of my turkey meatballs and added fresh cilantro and basil to the sauce…and everyone thought it was my normal sauce!
The following week we had a cookout planned with some friends and had originally planned on cooking out on the fire pit…but Mother Nature had other plans for us! We were slammed with storms for the entirety of the day and our friends decided to come 3 hours earlier than expected…I began to scramble wondering what I could quickly make inside with the fixings I already had. So I decided to be bold and go for Sloppy Joes! We had originally planned to make Venison Burgers, instead I fried the venison and added the Sloppy Joe Sauce to it. Such a great sauce on its own, there was no need for any additions! Let me tell you it was quite the hit too and no one knew it was venison either! What better time then to break out some chips and salsa as well! I am very picky when it comes to salsas and sauces-I hate anything chunky, so I was very happy to see that this salsa was a happy medium for me. Overall great taste, our guests raved about it-although Mr. and I both wished it had more heat to it…but we like things really spicy!
Recently we have been in zucchini overload from our garden which requires some creativity on my part. Miss A loves pizza, so I decided a fun project for the two of us would be to make our own Zucchini Rounds Mini Pizzas. The pizza sauce is by far our favorite! Such great flavor…Miss A was eating it straight from the jar!
