Conversation Heart Paper Plate Craft

This is a super fun valentine plate craft project. For this one, hot glue is used. You can also use Elmer’s Craft Glue, which would make it a craft that the kids will love. Be sure to buy enough that they can eat some as they craft. :D

Instructions

    Assemble your supplies

Supplies for conversation heart paper plate craft

Carefully punch about 12 holes around the edge of your paper plate using your hole puncher. Lesson learned - this one has 13 holes. It's so much easier to space them evenly when you space them like the hours on a clock.

Lay three pieces of ribbon together and weave in and out of the punched holes. Tie a bow at the top.

Carefully start gluing your conversation hearts onto the center of your plate starting with an outline of a heart. You can free hand a heart outline in pencil first, if you want. I find it's just as easy to just lay the hearts out on the plate in the shape I want them, then lift each one and glue.

Once you have a heart outline you can start gluing your conversation hearts into the center of your heart outline. Continue stacking and gluing your hearts until you have about two or three layers or until you no longer see the white of the plate through the candy hearts.

Add a loop of string to the back, if you like, to hang this one up. It's too cute not to.

Notes

Add more flare to this craft by adding a paper doily to the plate before gluing the hearts in place. Alternatively, use colored plates and make a trio.
