We’ve been trying to make more healthy, socially responsible, and environmentally friendly decisions with our purchases recently.  By no means have we become a “crunchy” family, but we are moving toward purer, healthier, and more natural products.  I have to confess, though, it gets a bit confusing.  There are SO many companies that claim to be “natural” and “sustainable” and “socially responsible” that deciding where to drop our cash isn’t easy.   Which is why I was excited to try a Conscious Box.

Conscious Box

Conscious Box is a monthly subscription service that delivers a fun, easy, way to discover new favorites that are handpicked from business that care about the planet.  Because they handpick the companies they will include, you can rest assured that you are only getting stuff from companies working toward the most ethical goals.  Each Conscious Box includes 10-20 of these socially responsible companies.  Conscious Box wants to make a difference by helping YOU make a difference.

Our Conscious Box included food products such as Celtic Sea Salt, chocolate, almonds, and virgin coconut oil.  It also included a Ready-to-Drink probiotic drink, lotion, and coupons.  Yay!

The chocolate didn’t last long.  It was delish and quickly disappeared.  The lotion has been great to use on my hands with this weather.  I still haven’t used the virgin coconut oil because I’ve never cooked with coconut oil and am not sure how to do it.  Most of the products I hadn’t even heard of the company before, so it was neat to get to try them.

The Conscious Box offers several subscription plans.  There is the Classic, the Vegan, or Gluten Free and they are $19.95/month with a monthly subscription.  When you sign up for the yearly subscription, you get a month free.  Plus, every month that you get a box you earn points you can apply to full size products for unbeatable discounts!   If you like getting surprises in the mail and want to try out new socially responsible products, the Conscious Box is the way to go.

Right now, That Bald Chick readers can save 25% off with the exclusive code: LOVELIFE

So, suggestions on how to use the virgin coconut oil?

I’ve seen Concscious Box everywhere and I’m really tempted to try it! We LOVE coconut oil, and there are about a million uses for it. You can just use it in place of regular oil for sauteing to try it out 🙂

We use coconut oil for EVERYTHING. It is a great moisturizer for dry skin. I use it instead of baby lotion on the baby. It can be substituted for butter (cup for cup) in baking. You can fry with it. It’s a yummy, healthy fat addition to smoothies.

I am obsessed with Conscious Box–it is awesome! You can melt the coconut oil and use it in baking instead of other oils. It’ll make whatever you’re baking mildly coconutty. 🙂

This is totally up my alley! I mostly use coconut oil on my hair to prevent dryness and breakage. I also use it on my skin (not my face, though), because it’s a wonderful moisturizer! Coconut oil has a myriad of benefits. 🙂

That looks like an awesome subscription service! I keep hearing how amazing coconut oil is but haven’t tried it yet.
