A new baby means a lot of things… lots of kisses, snuggles, hours awake, and loads of laundry. When you are cloth diapering, newborn diaper laundry can be OVERWHELMING, considering most newborns use AT LEAST 12 diapers a day. In those first few sleepless weeks, the last thing you want is to have to spend precious time doing dirty diaper laundry. Fortunately for us, we didn’t have to do a lot of diaper laundry in the first four weeks because we received Baby Care Diaper Service for review.
Baby Care Diaper Service is a full service cloth diaper service in the St. Louis Metro Area. They offer both a prefold service, which is what we received, and a hybrid service that is a mix of prefolds and All-in-One’s. For their Hybrid service, you receive 30 bumGenius Freetimes AIO’s each week, plus your selected number of prefolds, and are guaranteed to receive the same exact AIO’s back each week. Your own dedicated AIO’s from a diaper service, which is absolutely perfect for daycares that prefer AIO’s over prefolds and covers.
Since we don’t have to be concerned with daycare preferences, we stuck with the simple prefold service. The prefold service diaper counts work on a rotating 2 week basis. We signed up for the 80 prefold count service, which is typically $20/week, since we did have our own stash of newborn AIOs and AI2s.
With Baby Care Diaper Service, you can schedule a pre-birth delivery of diapers, which is awesome. Pre-delivery includes half of your ordered amount of diapers, so if you order 80 prefolds weekly, you would receive 40 pre-delivery then just call them when baby is born and they deliver the rest on your regular service day. In our case, Little Miss surprised us by arriving 8 days early, so our service started after we returned home from the hospital.
With our first delivery, we received:
- A diaper pail (a loaner that had to be washed and returned at the end of service, but can also be purchased for $20)
- Two pail liners (one for clean, one for dirty)
- A deodorizer disc, which fits in the lid of the pail
- 80 prefold diapers
- An informational booklet that included instructions on different diaper folds
- Diaper Covers (4 weeks paid service includes a Bummis Super Whisper Wrap)
Our delivery was scheduled for Thursday morning, and I was advised that our route was an early one. Sure enough, diapers were on my porch by 6:30 a.m.
At the end of the first week, I filled out the included diaper count tag with how many clean diapers I had left, and affixed it to the bag with the wrap tie. I set the bag out on the porch Wednesday evening, and when I checked on Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m., there sat a beautiful bag of fresh clean diapers, and all I had to do was carry them inside. It was a BEAUTIFUL thing, which we were happy to repeat for four weeks of service.
After carrying them in, I unpacked the bag of diapers by tens into the crib, which sits next to the changing table and is currently not used as a crib (LOL) since baby rooms in with us in her bassinet Stacking them criss-cross by tens helped me count diapers more easily at the end of the week, when it was time to fill out the tag again.
The prefolds that I received were consistently in pristine condition. In fact, they all looked like fully prepped and never used diapers. Not once did I spy a stain, which is remarkable considering how many poopy diapers I sent back to them!! Of course, they recommend that you scoop the poop before placing it in the pail liner, which I did, but we all know what newborn stinky’s look like.
To end the service, I simply called two days prior to my next scheduled delivery (which in my case was a Tuesday) and let them know that the driver would be retrieving everything. I washed out my pail and then set my pail, a pail liner of clean diapers, and a pail liner of dirty diapers on my porch, along with my loaner covers.
It was so hard to say goodbye! In fact, as I set everything on the porch, I couldn’t help but hear the lyrics to “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” song by BOYZ II MEN in my head.
Baby Care Diaper Service also has a web store where you can purchase gift certicicates for a loved one, diaper covers, cloth wipes, and a selection of other cloth diaper related products.

Just a reminder they offer a deep cleaning service too. We do cloth, but chose to wash all on our own. About once/year we send them to Baby Care for a deep cleaning. Plan to do it once DD is potty trained, before packing them up, since we’re not pregnant with Baby #2 just yet.
wish this service was around when my children were small but it would make a very nice gift.
how fun. we live too far away for them to pick up, I wonder if they’d do a ‘drop off’ at their company???
This is WONDERFUL to know as my best friend is having a baby and is exclusively cloth diapering! I will let her know about this great service!
We also cloth diaper and I think a diaper service would be an awesome gift to new parents. A reliable, sanitary way to make your CD task easier? Sounds like heaven!!
This is really the best way to go with diapers. Good for environment and cheaper in the long run
How fun and USEFUL a diaper service is! Ooooh!!
I would love to find a diaper service in my area!
I don’t think we have anything like this in our area, but I bet I could probably find one online to deliver. I plan to use prefolds and covers so I love that they offer that option. The price isn’t bad either, especially since they grow out of the newborn size diapers so quickly. Thanks for sharing!
We used a service for our first son, it was wonderful! If they were still here I would do it again in a flash!
I would love this for a newborn! How wonderful! We used disposables because I wanted to wait until we were settled to start cloth diapers. I love that they do AIOs as well as prefolds! We use pockets, but I could do AIOs. Wish we had this service near us.
Ugh! This sounds so awesome! My mom talks about how much she loved the diaper service in Washington, D.C. and I’m so jealous! Maybe someday…
That’s really cool that you get the same exact AIO’s back! This seems great for a new mom!
This service would be so helpful to new mommies! I love that you get the same AIOs back every week!
A diaper service would be awesome! I’ve toyed with the idea of starting one in our area. I just think it’s so great for new moms and it isn’t that much more expensive than all the disposables people buy at the beginning anyway.
