As a Christian homeschooling Mom, I am firmly convinced that giving my kids a solid spiritual foundation is of utmost importance. To that end, we teach from a Christian worldview. We incorporate Scripture into our daily conversations and lessons. We do devotions together. We hadn’t, however, found a formal Bible Curriculum that we absolutely love. I was excited, then, when I received an opportunity to review Apologia Bible Curriculum. I believe that children can know the Bible. The Word in Motion is designed to help them learn by engaging their heart, hands, and head.

Apologia Bible Curriculum
I have used Bible curriculum to teach various age kids at church. I have taught many devotions for my own kids at home. The Word in Motion Bible curriculum from Apologia is NOT that.

Apologia’s The Word in Motion Bible curriculum is a two-volume Bible study curriculum, The Word in Motion Old Testament and The Word in Motion New Testament , which is designed to be completed in two years. It is designed with students grades K–8 in mind, however, it is appropriate for all members of the family from 2 to 102.

The Word in Motion Bible curriculum was developed in cooperation with Walk Thru The Bible. Volume 1, The Word in Motion Old Testament, will walk with students as they explore the people, places, events, and all thirty-nine books of the Old Testament. The Word in Motion Old Testament Notebooking Journal is vibrantly colorful and the text is easy to understand.
In Volume 2. The Word in Motion New Testament, will journey with students as they discover the people, places, events, and all twenty-seven books of the New Testament. The two volumes together will helps students to see how all the parts of the Bible fit together and how they all point to Jesus, and the story of God’s love for humanity and His plan for our redemption. As with the Old Testament Notebooking Journal, The Word in Motion New Testament Notebooking Journal is designed to allow for meaningful, multilevel learning.
Why We Like Word in Motion
Bible Curriculum that Appeals to Everyone
If you’ve been teaching your kids for long, you know that there are different learning styles. The Word in Motion curriculum appeals to all of them.

This homeschool Bible curriculum is not like any other Bible curriculum I have used. It is a combination of online videos, textbook, and student notebook. These elements are designed to collectively help children develop a deep and personal understanding of the Bible.
☝️ that right there? That makes my heart smile!
My kids all have different learning styles. And this curriculum appeals to them all.
- Visual (spatial) learners – videos and amazing graphics in the textbooks
- Aural (auditory) learners – engaging narratives in the videos, and textbooks that are written to be read aloud easily
- Physical (kinesthetic) – motions that help kids (and adults) remember Bible information
- Verbal (linguistic) learners – repetition of key verses and ideas and weekly memory verse
- Logical (mathematical) – see how everything fits together logically and sequentially
- Social (interpersonal) – learn together as a family
- Solitary (intrapersonal) – dive deep with individual student notebooks
Have a kid that just can’t sit still during lessons? I do! This curriculum is designed with those kids in mind! The streaming videos are pretty amazing (although I do wish they were available as downloadable mp4s, since we sometimes have internet connectivity issues).
Just look at these sample videos, you’ll love them!

No Prep Work
If you’re like me, you know that curriculum that is pre-planned and requires NO prep work is highly coveted because our time is precious, right? Like most Apologia products, the Word in Motion curriculum is just that. There isn’t a teacher’s manual (it doesn’t need one). It is preplanned to fit in a 4-day week (yay), and is literally open and go. Everything is laid out in the lesson plans, which are included in the notebooking journal. These provide clear directions as to what to do each day.

My kids also do the AWANA program, so I’m not certain how long it will take us to complete The Word in Motion, but I am looking forward to
