It’s nearly that time where fall festivals will be located all around the country. Many kids will gather with friends and family to enjoy candy, laughter, and fall based activities. While fall festivals are fun events, those parents who have children with allergies can find these events stressful. My son had a peanut allergy when he was younger. The thought of fall festivals or other events where candy was present often made me very nervous. I learned that there are ways to alleviate that stress with allergy safe candy for fall festivals.
Allergy Safe Candy for Fall Festivals

Gluten Free Candy Options
My son is no longer allergic to peanuts, but now that I have to follow a gluten free diet, so I’ve come to love a few of these…
Tootsie Rolls – these fun chocolaty treats are made without the use wheat, barley, rye, oats, triticale, spelt, or any of their components, either as ingredients or as part of the manufacturing process.
Tootsie Pops – again, these are made without any of the offending gluten containing agents.
The Tootsie Roll Child’s Play Candy Assortment includes such favorites as Dots®, Tootsie Roll® Pops, Tootsie Rolls® and Flavor Rolls®, which are peanut free and gluten free.
Jelly Belly – all Jelly Belly beans are gluten-free, dairy-free, gelatin-free, vegetarian and OU Kosher. This includes my all time favorite, the black jelly bean! Whoop! Most licorice is made with wheat, so I love that I can still enjoy a black jelly bean now and then.
If you prefer, you also have non-candy treats. Just because your child has a food allergy doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy the fall festivities this time of year. These allergy safe and gluten free candy options, as well as non-candy treat options, will help you feel confident as a parent knowing that your child is safe during this seasonal gathering. While my son is no longer allergic to peanuts, we are still careful about the candy that we allow the kids to have around other people, because we know that allergies are no joke.
