Well, it is Day 18 of the All About Me Meme, and I get to tell you more about my wedding(s).
As I mentioned in Our First Wedding, Hubs and I originally planned to be married in December 2006, but his Grandma Hig became ill, and we moved it up to January. We had an intimate ceremony with our parents, siblings, pastors, and Grandma Hig. In total, there were less than 30 people in attendance. We both wore black pants and blue shirts. I held a simple long stemmed rose, he wore a simple rose boutonniere. After the ceremony, we all went to a Mexican restaurant and had dinner. Our wedding “cake” was fried ice cream, and it was YUMMY.
Then, ten months later, we had our second wedding, which was the big shebang! We invited friends and family from near and far and had close to 200 in attendance. It was the perfect Christmas wedding. I wore a white strapless gown with a fur trimmed coat. He wore a tux. My sister created gorgeous works of art for our flowers.
Our wedding party was composed of Merry Maids…
and Jolly Gents…
Did you notice that one guy and one gal wore the opposite color?
That’s because we had a Bridesman and a Groomsmaid…
Of course we had a ring bearer and a flower girl…
We also had two bell ringers who ran in ahead of me saying “The bride is coming…”
Our reception was a plated dinner complete with Christmas finery. We even toasted with egg nog.
Because most of our wedding party had a significant other or children with them, we chose to have our parents at the head table with us (Why, yes. Yes, those are stockings hanging from the head table. LOL).
Our wedding cake was a masterpiece, bedecked with snowflakes and topped with a Christmas tree.
We decorated a white Christmas tree with our wedding favors, which were red ornaments tied with ribbons that said “Tis the Season to be Married” and had our names. We even had goodie bags under the tree for each child in attendance.
Of course, a Christmas Wedding wouldn’t be complete without a visit from a reindeer (Fenwick, that is)…
And at the end of the day, we were exhausted, but pleased that we were lucky enough to get to marry each other again.
It was the perfect Christmas Wedding!
