Spring is in full bloom in my neck of the woods. With all the blooms in the air, a tiny crew of jackhammer wielding excavators has tried to make my skull their playground. Not this year! I’m giving the excavation crew their pink slip with essential oils. Whether your discomfort is a result of tension, stress, or some other seasonal or cyclical trigger, essential oils can help relieve the discomfort. Essential oils offer a natural alternative and are easy for all members of the family to use. If you are curious about how essential oils can help soothe your discomfort, take a look below at 7 essential oils to help ease headaches that you can try!
1. .
Peppermint oil is my personal favorite. It is my number one go to oil for headaches of any kind. You can massage it on your temples or the point of pain, or inhale a few drops from your palm. I think massaging it in seems to work best and soothes quicker.
2. .
Diffuse rosemary oil into your space when you feel the discomfort coming on. You can also massage your neck and temples with some rosemary oil if you wish. When in a hurry, inhale a drop from your hands to help yourself relax.
3.
Lavender oil is ideal to use if your discomfort is a result of tension or stress. Massage some onto your temples, neck, and shoulder or even the palms of your hands. Diffuse the oil or breathe it in
to help yourself relax, unwind, and release the tension behind the ache.
4.
Patchouli oil is well known for it’s soothing properties, just diffuse it and relax. Since patchouli oil is pungent, it is not ideally suited for discomfort accompanied by sensitivity to smell.
5.
Like peppermint oil, wintergreen oil is a great for soothing discomfort. Wintergreen can be massaged into the trouble spot or diffused. It is less bothersome for those with scent sensitivity issues.
6. .
Clove oil has a comforting scent and is ideal for relaxing and unwinding to release tension. Simply massage it or inhale it.
7.
Don’t let the unusual name fool you! Ylang ylang oil can be used to help reduce discomfort. It is an oil that promotes peace and serenity. If your discomfort is a result of stress, ylang ylang oil is ideal as a massage oil or inhaled.
Don’t let the jackhammer crew get you down. Instead, try these 7 essential oils to help ease headaches!
