3 simple changes to make in your breakfast right now for a huge impact

Share the love!

Making changes in your breakfast could be one of the best ways to help you get healthier.  It has been said time and again (and it isn’t going away) that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  But what can you do to make your breakfast the best it can be?  You may think you are doing great with your breakfasts, but you could always do better, and here’s how!

3 simple changes to make in your breakfast right now for a huge impact @thatbaldchick

Daily Servings

Most people know that fruits, vegetables, and protein are important in their daily diet. Why is it so hard, then, to get the recommended daily servings of fruit and vegetables?  Try getting a serving of each with breakfast, and see what a difference it can make.  No, you don’t have to consume a huge breakfast to get the nutrition you need.  A simple banana with a cup of almond milk or smeared with a tablespoon of peanut butter and rolled in flaxseed is a power packed breakfast if there ever was one.  This is a favorite of mine on workout days, because the banana nutrition goes a long way toward fueling workouts and keeping the pep in my step!  Not into flaxseed?  Try rolling it in unsweetened coconut flakes for a healthy dessert!

Go Cold

Warm breakfasts, especially on cold mornings, are a great treat for many. It’s nice to sit and slowly eat as you relax and read the paper before you begin a busy day, right? Or maybe you’re one of those so busy you have to grab something from the microwave before you run out the door. Whatever the case, a warm breakfast may be slowing you down. Try a cold breakfast, instead, or at least cold elements, to get your insides awake and your metabolism jarred and running. Yogurt is a great cold food breakfast.

Added Protein

Studies have shown that people who eat protein in the mornings weigh less than those who don’t. In addition, protein helps your metabolism work all day long, which in turn gives you sustained energy. Yes, you should try to eat protein all throughout the day, but protein at breakfast is crucial to a healthy diet.  A hard boiled egg or a few ounces of diced chicken can add the protein you need to keep your day fueled.
