Because we homeschool, my kidlets aren’t as at risk for the dreaded Summer Brain Drain.  However, since our homeschool calendar is more relaxed right now with the new baby, it is something that concerns me.  Summer Brain Drain is the phenomenon in which kids lose the knowledge they gained during the school year because they aren’t exercising their brains while away from the structured learning environment.  Many kids lose months of reading and math skills during summer break!  I know I did as a kid!

As parents, there are many things we can do to help our kids continue to exercise their minds during the summer months.  The VTech InnoTab 2S W-Fi Learning App Tablet is one of them.

The InnoTab 2S is one of the first children’s learning based tablets with Wi-Fi.  It is your child’s own tablet with age-appropriate content and it connects wirelessly to the VTech app store, the Learning Lodge, where you and your child can browse a variety of content and your child can even create their own wishlist to share with you.  It has a 180° rotating camera with video recorder, tilt sensor, photo viewer, video player, MP3 music player, e-reader, art studio, microphone and so much more.

The Learning Lodge features over 350 educational games, e-books, music and videos.  Content is developed specifically for each child’s unique stage of development, as well as with their age and interests. Subjects include math, reading, social studies, science,  creativity, and problem solving… just to name a few! Additional software cartridges awithpopular characters such as Mike the Knight™, Angelina Ballerina®, Team Umizoomi™, Dora the Explorer™, Thomas & Friends®, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles®, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Sesame Street are also available. New titles coming out on the Learning Lodge beginning in June include: Monsters University®, Turbo®, Planes®, and more.

Here’s my favorite feature… parents can track their child’s progress through the Learning Lodge™ Progress Log!

Mister and Sister have fallen in love with the InnoTab 2S.  Mister says his favorite thing about the InnoTab 2S is that he can take “funny photos” and that his second favorite part is the calendar app, so he can schedule everything fun.  Sister also says her favorite part about the InnoTab 2S is the camera, and her second favorite thing is the finger artist app.
