We have been discussing vacations A LOT around here.  We actually have quite a busy schedule coming up.  Hubs will be traveling to Saudi Arabia again this winter, we have a trip to Tennessee, a trip to Branson, are hoping to go to Vegas sometime in 2011, and have the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias annual family conference in July 2011.  With all of that in mind, I have been thinking a lot about what my Ultimate Family Vacation would be.

I have always dreamed of touring the East Coast in the Fall, just when the foliage starts to change.  So, for my Ultimate Family Vacation, the four of us would pack up our bags and head out East with his parents and my parents.  Yes, that would be eight of us.  But, we have traveled with our parents and really enjoyed it, plus, it enables us to get some couple time.

Our first stop would be the hills and valleys of Vermont, where vibrant foliage is .  The four of us would stay at a bed and breakfast, where we would learn to make apple cider, and then enjoy it by a bonfires,.  Of course, there would be plenty of hot dogs to roast, and s’mores.  We would go horseback riding, or perhaps take a horse drawn wagon ride.  While the kids enjoyed themselves at a nearby skating rink with the grandparents (or other spectacular activity) the Hubs and I would get a couples massage.

From there we would head down to Moosehead Lake, Maine.  In Moosehead Lake, we would rent a log cabin.  We would check out the local fauna, take the ferry to Mount Kineo, and go for a hike.  All while enjoying the breathtaking views.  We may even fit in a round of fishing, since it is supposed to be the best fishing in those parts.

From there we would go to Concord, Massachusetts.  I have always wanted to see the famed beauty of Walden Pond.  I hear the Autumn hues are breathtaking there.

After our winding journey through Autumn’s colors on the coast, we would round our my Ultimate Family Vacation with the NFED Halloween Bash in New York, New York.  What a way to end an incredible journey, surrounded by family and friends.
