Hear Me by Kyle Sherman

One of my favorite quotes is that “Music is the prayer the heart sings!” I am clueless as to it’s origin, but I often use music as a portal to worship.  There is just something about singing to, and about, the Lord that softens the heart and allows one to hear from Him.  Such a powerful thing.

music is the prayer the heart sings

I recently had the opportunity to review a new CD, Hear Me by Kyle Sherman. Hubs and I often watch Lifechurch.TV, and Kyle Sherman was a full-time worship leader at their campus in Fort Worth, TX.  I knew that I liked his worship style, so I agreed to review the CD.

Hear Me Kyle Sherman

I was NOT disappointed.  The albums title song, Hear Me, is astonishingly poignant.  It certainly is a prayer the heart sings!

Hear me…
Hear me when I cry…
When I’m tangled up inside, hurting and empty.
Hear me…
When I get so mad at you, don’t understand the things you do, drives me crazy.
Hear me…
Hear me…
Lord, I need you near me,
Oh, hear me.
Hear me…
Hear me, Lord, I need your help.
I can’t do this by myself, Life gets too heavy.
Hear me, keep my children n your grace.
Guide them safely on their way. Show them your mercy…

It is one of those songs that you could listen to a thousand times and it speak to your heart differently each time.

The album is an eclectic mix of soulful worship.  It is contemplative, fun, and the music is technically spot on. The song Build It On the Rock has me dancing in my seat and doing some “Uh huh, oh yeah’s” every time.  LOL.

This is one CD that is sure to be a fast favorite.  The Kyle Sherman Hear Me CD is available on Amazon, on iTunes, and wherever Christian music is sold.

Cultivation Generation- My Foundation

In the 70s and 80s, when most mainstream denominations limited their worship to more traditional hymns, Vineyard Worship (formerly Vineyard Music) was using the unique nature of contemporary worship music.  Over the years, their music has gained a large following, and is now used by many churches.
Their newest album, Cultivation Generation- My Foundation, is a continuation of that tradition.
Track Listing:
Cultivation Generation My Foundation
My Soul Longs – The Neverclaim
Love Has Come, Love Has Won – Jesse Meyer
God Don’t Never Change – David Linhart
My Foundation – Anabeth Morgan
Let It Shine – Stephen Lampert
The Bridegroom – The Neverclaim
Your Kingdom’s Here – Jesse Meyer
Worthy – Anabeth Morgan
Life To Us – David Linhart
Enthroned On High – The Neverclaim
Walls Come Down – Stephen Lampert
They That Wait – The Neverclaim
Song Of Hope (Digital Bonus) – The Neverclaim
I will start by saying that I haven’t listened to any Vineyard Music in several years.  I have been listening to other albums, in more of the contemporary Christian category rather than the worship category.  So my music has been focused on mainstream artists such as Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, etc.  I do have the Dwell Album from Vineyard (2003) and while it was great,  I haven’t listened to anything from Vineyard since then.
The Cultivation Generation- My Foundation album starts with “My Soul Longs” which I think was a great way to start an album with the mix of music that it has.  Whether it is a slower worship song, like,  “Let It Shine,” or the electric-guitar driven “The Bridegroom,” or the upbeat songs “Walls Come Down” and “Your Kingdom’s Here,” this album has a song that can mean something for everyone.  Every song in this album is powerful.  From a worshiper’s perspective, every song, in my opinion, is meaningful and authentic.  Each song can lead different people, regardless of the types of music they like, into worship just by listening to them.  The authors of this collection are Vineyard’s best musicians and leaders, which results in an album with tracks that are recorded flawlessly.  The live setting of the album does lend to a livelier sound and encourages the listener to join in worshiping.  It was also neat to hear a Vineyard rendition of “Song of Hope.”
All in all, if you are looking for some fresh, up-to-date worship, you should get this album.
Album available wherever Christian music is sold and on iTunes.

Operation Worship Bible- Homefront edition

Whether it is her husband, son, brother, or friend serving in our American military around the world, she is sure to come to love the Operation Worship Bible.

image

Small enough to fit in her purse, this compact NLT Bible is sure to encourage her and help her be strong for him, when he needs it the most.

The pink camo on this Bible is a cute touch.

While I don’t recommend the NLT version for in depth study, I think it is perfectly fitting for those looking for a source of courage, strength, and peace in times of uncertainty.  It may prove easier for some to read, as the language flows easily and it is broken into paragraphs, rather than verse by verse.  Verses are noted within paragraphs, though, so finding a specific one is easy enough.

This Bible is specifically aimed at women whose loved ones serve in the military.  I could see, however, how any woman with a loved one in a position of service, whether military, police, fire fighter, or whatever, would benefit from it.

I received a review copy from Tyndale and was not otherwise compensated.

The Prayers of the Righteous

I was standing here singing the lyrics of J’ Moss new single, The Prayers, this morning.  I just can’t get enough of this song!  I literally put it on repeat and listened to it during my entire #totalmom workout.

Anyway, after the kids got up, I opened the mp3 on my PC and had it playing and singing along.  As I was singing, my 3 year old son stands up and says to me,

“Mommy, I can pray for you.  I can pray the prayers of the righteous.”

I believe he can!

This song is powerful.  I have to my favorite part is the end of the song, where the “Send an angel” starts.  In Genesis 32:22-32, Jacob wrestled with an angel all night long.  In the morning, the angel told him to let him go, because it was daybreak.  Jacob held fast and said “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

I have to say, my favorite part is the end of the song, where the “Send an angel” starts.  In Genesis 32:22-32, Jacob wrestled with an angel all night long.  In the morning, the angel told him to let him go, because it was daybreak.  Jacob held fast and said “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Jacob was blessed because he struggled with God and man and overcame.  He refused to give up or give in.

Man!  We can learn a LOT from Jacob, can’t we!

These are the words to the song, The Prayers, as best as I can catch them.

Can anybody out there pray for me
Without even knowin’ what I need
Can anybody out there pray for me
The prayers of the righteous

Can anybody out there pray for me
Without even knowin’ a whole lot about me
Can anybody pray where the prayer don’t cease
The prayers of the righteous

(Da da dup do da da daa dup
da da dup do da da do)

Can anybody out there pray for me
Without even knowin’ what I need
Can anybody pray unselfishly
The prayers of the righteous

Can anybody out there pray for me
Without even knowin’ a whole lot about me
Can anybody pray where the prayer don’t cease
The prayers of the righteous

(I been lookin’ for a partner)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a soldier)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a real friend)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I can’t do it by myself)
No no no no more
No no no no more

(Da da dup do da da daa dup
da da dup do da da do)

(I been lookin’ for a partner)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a warrior)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a real friend)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I can’t do it by myself)
No no no no more
No no no no more

Men should pray that they will not faint
Father in Heaven in Jesus name
Pray for each other that we may be healed
Pray in faith and he will

(I been lookin’ for a partner)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a warrior)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I been lookin’ for a real friend)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much
(I can’t do it by myself)
No no no no more
No no no no more

Men should pray that they will not faint
Father in Heaven in Jesus name
Pray for each other that we may be healed
Pray in faith and he will

(Da da dup do da da daa dup
da da dup do da da do)

Is anybody prayin?
Are you prayin through the fight?
Are yo prayin through the battle?
Don’t stop, everybody all the prayer
We gotta get back to prayin!
Father, keep your arms around us
Watch over us all night long
Send an angel
Send an angel
And I won’t let go
Until you bless my soul
I’m standing in the need
Not just for me
Touch the man of God
Touch the woman of God
Shake up the kingdom
You’ll get your glory
My hearts in yours
You’ll get your honor
We bless your name

Please bless us, we ask in Jesus name.

I been lookin’ for a partner…

The prayers of the righteous availeth much.

Whatever you face, don’t let go!  Pray, pray, pray.  As the old acronym goes, PUSH, or pray until something happens.

The prayers of the righteous availeth much!

The Prayers by J Moss

I was browsing iTunes the other day, looking for a few more good songs to add to my workout playlist, and MAN did I find an awesome one!

imageThe Prayers (feat. Hezekiah Walker & LFC) - Single - J Moss

J Moss teamed up with Hezekiah Walker and LFC to bring The Prayers to the table.

This is one song that will get your foot to tappin, and bring a smile to your face!  I have listened to it at least forty times since I downloaded it (four of those this morning while I worked out!), and I can’t help but do a little dance every time I do!

Check it out on iTunes or on Amazon.  For less than a cup of coffee (the single is just $1.29 either place) you can put a little dance in your step and a little joy in your heart.
