Little Monsters Diaper

Little Monsters Diapers are a line of pocket cloth diapers that was started by a stay at home Mom who got fed up with her little boy getting rashes from disposable diapers. This line of cloth diapers stems from her desire to offer quality cloth diapers that are cute, high quality, and eco-friendly. Little Monsters Cloth Diapers are the originator of embroidery on the back of the pocket diaper, and their designs are adorable and their animal appliques include a bunny, a giraffe, a dinosaur, and several more. They also have several monster appliques and even have a crown , and big sunflower, and strawberries.

Little Monsters recently sent me their pink one size Bunny Moon pocket diaper for review. Of course, the little carrot on it made it too precious to pass up!

The body of the diaper is petal pink PUL that is soft to touch. The inner layer is polyester microfleece, which is great for wicking moisture away from baby’s bum. It comes with a one triple layer microfiber insert for stuffing in the pocket. This diaper has goldenrod colored snaps on it with a four snap rise and crossover waist tabs for baby’s with bitty bums. With a weight range of 9-35 pounds, it is one of the roomier cloth diapers I now have in my stash.

I had to wait until Little Miss hit the 9lb mark to use this one on the smallest rise setting. While the included microfiber insert is thinner than the other microfiber inserts in my stash, it worked for us since Little Miss isn’t a heavy wetter yet. I will either double stuff or use a different insert once she starts really soaking her diapers.

I can’t wait to use this diaper on her next Easter season.

Joovy Black Room2 Playard

With summer fast approaching, and vacation plans getting under way, I couldn’t help but start to panic a bit when I realized my Aunt no longer had the playard she had loaned to us when Mister and Sister were younger. What on earth were we going to do? In my research for a new playard, I landed on the Joovy site and absolutely fell in love with the Black Room2 Playard.

I like the Black Joovy Room2 Playard for many reasons. It’s black, which means it will coordinate with anything and is timeless (no outdated prints in two years for us!). It has 10 feet of floor space, making it roomy, which means it will last a long time. Since it is so roomy, it can accomodate play gym mats, which means I can put the gym mat in the playard and keep an active baby occupied while Mommy cleans around her. The mesh sides are like huge windows, so baby doesn’t feel like she’s been sentenced to baby jail because she can still SEE Mommy while Mommy cleans around her. It also allows big Sister to keep a watchful eye on baby while she’s sleeping.

The sturdy floorboard sits low to the ground, so it is stable. It is easy to fold and is compact once folded, making it easy to pack in the van. It is made of the high quality 600D material which means it is durable, and it will last a long time.

The Joovy Room2 Playard comes with one Room² fitted mattress sheet, and additional sheets can be purchased. The sheets are made to allow the hook/loop straps of the floorboard to pass through, so the floor board can be secured appropriately.

The Joovy Room2 is definitely going to get a lot of mileage from us!

Nicki’s Diapers

Nicki’s Diapers is a name I’ve seen around quite a bit in the cloth diaper world. Nicki started the cloth diaper business, and later her husband, Jesse, came on board. They work together, as a team, to provide quality products with superior customer service while being environmentally responsible and maintaining top notch social business practices. Nicki’s Diapers recently sent me one of their Imagine One Size Stay-Dry All In One Cloth Diapers for review.

The Imagine OS AIO diaper is lined with polar fleece and the outer shell is waterproof. It has a snap-in 4-layer microfiber soaker pad, that is topped with polar fleece, to keep baby dry. It has gentle leg casings to prevent leaks and keep baby comfortable.

I received the Imagine OS AIO in the raspberry color with snaps (available in hook/loop closure as well). It also comes in emerald, marigold, indigo, and snow colors.

The Imagine AIO comes with three rise settings (1st row: small 8-15 pounds, 2nd row: medium 15-23 pounds, 3rd row: large 23-35 pounds). Since Little Miss is a newbie, we had to use it on the smallest setting. She still has tiny thighs (imagine that) so there was a small gap on one leg the first time we used it, but I was able to pull it tight by tucking up around her hip area. Even still, we had no leaks that time around. It’s been through the wash several times now, and washes up very well. We have tumbled it dry on delicate and dried it on the shower rod in the bathroom (it’s been rainy here) and either way it has remained soft.

I would personally call the Imagine AIO an All in Two (AI2) since the soaker pad snaps in and “all-in-one” means everything you need is in one piece. I don’t really care about semantics, though, and all that really matters is whether or not the diaper keeps baby dry and keeps baby’s clothes dry. It does. This is one diaper that will have a long life in our diaper rotation!

Thanks Mama

I never imagined, when I first started thinking about using cloth diapers with Little Miss, that there would be SO MANY OPTIONS. One of the most popular diaper lines on the market is the bumGenius line. Thanks Mama carries them all and recently sent me a bumGenius 4.0 snaps in the Lovelace print (also available in hook/loop closure) for review.

It is SO pretty. I love the different colored snaps!

Anyway, as a pocket diaper, the bumGenius 4.0 requires stuffing. It comes with a Cotton Babies one size insert and a newborn insert/doubler. The microfiber inserts are made of 3 layers of the thick microfiber terry. You can use it with or without the newborn doubler, or use the newborn insert by itself. The one size insert can be snapped down to fit smaller babies. It is designed to fit babies from 7 pounds all the way up to 35 pounds. Little Miss was born at 7lb 2 oz. Our bumGenius 4.0 didn’t fit her without gapping until after she crossed the 8lb mark. She does have a tiny hiney, though, and chunk free thighs. Now that she is over 8 pounds and filling out, the bumGenius 4.0 fits her beautifully.

So far, I have to use the newborn insert by itself, as the one size is a bit too bulky between the thighs for Little Miss. I’m sure it will be perfect once she hits the ten pound mark, though.

This diaper washes well, dries easily, and fits perfectly. Who could ask for more?
