Meeting Bob and Larry

We stopped by the local Christian store to look for some posters, only to find that Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber were in store.

Bob and Larry

Mister was pleased as punch!  He rushed right in and gave Larry a BIG hug and then a high five.  I was so glad I had my Canon ELPH in my purse, because I grabbed this snapshot!

Sister was another story.  She was literally petrified!  When she saw them from the entrance, she immediately started backing out of the door.  She kept saying, “I don’t wanna talk Bob Larry, I scared.”  I picked her up and gave the life size veggies a wide berth as I walked to the back of the store.  Hubs hung out at the front of the store with Mister, so he could chat it up with the cuke and cheery tomato.

IMG_8836I was a bit surprised by Sister’s reaction, because Veggie Tales are one of her favorite show.

I guess the difference is in size, right?

IMG_8838The store was having quite a party, with cider and cookies, and hand painting for the kids.  Sister wasn’t even remotely interested in having her hand painted, as the table for the hand painting was next to Bob and Larry.   Mister had no such qualms, and sat right down.  Sister looked on, but kept a wary eye on the produce on the other side of the table.

Finally, the staff shifted the table a bit, and Sister consented to getting her hand painted.  But only because Mommy stood between her and the Veggie Tales.  And she wouldn’t sit down.  I guess she wanted to be able to run for her life quickly if need be.  LOL.

It would have been nice to get a photo of sister with Bob and Larry, but, I figured my sanity was worth more than a snapshot of a screaming child with the characters.  I am sure they appreciated my restraint, as well.

I didn’t find my posters after all, but the smile on Mister’s face from meeting Bob and Larry was well worth the trip!

Have your children had similar responses to life-size cartoon characters?

Some things in this life are priceless!

Wordless Wednesday- The Snowman is Crying

On our way home from the hospital the day of Mister’s surgery, he announced “The snowman is crying!” as we passed this.

I asked him why he thought the snowman was crying and he said, “Because it’s cold outside.”

By the way, my Mom and I disagreed as to what the creature on the side was.  I said it was a cat, as in snow leopard.  She and Mister insisted it was a dog.

What do you think?

snow cat or snow dog?

Wordless Wednesday- Mississippi River Ice

My Dad works on the Mississippi River at a barge cleaning plant, and this picture was taken this morning outside of his office.

The plant is on “cold watch” right now, which basically means a skeleton crew and Dad is one of the guys who has to go in and make sure the office barge doesn’t sink or anything crazy like that.
