Brandcation Scholarship Update

Remember the story of Alexander Shott and John Nott?

I'd rather be Shott than Nott go to Brandcation

Sadly, I did NOTT win the Brandcation Scholarship Contest.

That Bald Chick in cross hairs

With 36 awesome entries, the judges had their work cut out for them! They ended up being able to give away TWO scholarships, which is just phenomenal!  The winners were Melissa from Fun Saving Mom and Cyn from Daily Cynema.  Let me tell you, their entries were awesome!  I would have chosen them, too!

I hope that all of the bloggers attending Brandcation have an awesome time.  Thank you to the contest sponsors for the opportunity to apply, and congratulations Melissa and Cyn!  That being said, if one of ya’ll can’t go or another ticket pops up… LOL.

Perhaps next year I will spend less time hemming and hawing.

Global Getaway Nov 5th-7th! Get your tickets now!

Heard about Bloggers on Bourbon (#BOBNOLA)?  The ladies that went had a BLAST, and now MomDot is planning a Global Getaway.  I missed #BOBNOLA, and because we already have a family trip scheduled the weekend of the Global Getaway, I will be missing it, too.  But, I wanted to share it with you…

Don’t miss out on MomDot’s next BRANDCATION event for 2010 where bloggers create real relationships based on conversation and lasting memories.

NOVEMBER 5th-7th, 2010

Orlando, Florida

The theme of our November Brandcation is ADVENTURES IN ORLANDO. Your ticket price will include your accommodations from Thursday to Sunday in a luxury home in Orlando, complete with kitchen and pool for a once in a lifetime experience while you discover all that Orlando has to offer!

Parties, great food, and relaxation!

You will find no classes at Brandcation events, but rather real life conversation in an environment conducive with learning and growing.

Direct quotes from three past attendees:

“Blogging for me has become stale. But because of this meet up, I really am more inspired to participate again. I learned that the connections with other bloggers has such great value.”~

—————

“I learned more about making money on my blog and how vital real relationships are!”~

—————

“It took the blogs away from the people but brought in the networking and social aspect of what we do everyday.” ~

—————

Over the next few months as we partner with businesses in the area, we will reveal planned meals and specific events that will take you from virtual to reality included in your ticket. We ask that you join the MomDot forums at www.momdot.com/forum in order to follow along.

So what are you waiting for? Join 30 of your closest (or soon to be closest!) online companions in a Global Getaway in Orlando, Florida!

Requirements:

  • Must be current blogger active in social media and PR friendly
  • Must be willing to thank all the sponsors via your website
  • Must attend all events (unless sick)
  • This is a no spouse and no child event. Each blogger will be paired with a roommate in luxury home. This is part of the goal of Brandcation-bonding and relationship building.

Please note:

  • Please note that we have full adventures planned for Friday, so please check in on Thursday night  (remember accommodations are covered)
  • Tickets are non-refundable
  • Tickets are non-transferable except in a case by case basis
  • Early Bird ticket prices end on Sept 15th and go up to $129 thereafter, so buy now!

PR are welcome to attend, but must contact trisha@MomDot.com before purchasing a ticket. We are holding (5) PR tickets for PR to attend and get involved in building one on one relationships with the attending bloggers.

Want to get involved?

Are you a sponsor or business that wants to get its brand in front of our 30 PR friendly and active social media and influential mom bloggers and support a fun filled and unique event?  Feel free to contact Trisha Haas of MomDot (trisha@momdot.com) to discuss how you can get involved!

I was so excited when I heard about the Global Getaway!  And I think I had Brian nearly talked into letting me go, until I mentioned the date, and he was like, “Um, honey, we already have reservations that weekend.”  Insert sigh here.

I am crossing my fingers that the Spring will bring another intimate brandcation, so that I can finally meet some of the wonderful bloggers from the MomDot community!

Small Talk Six July 17

I missed an entire MONTH of Small Talk Six.  With Brian traveling, me traveling, two weddings, a family reunion, and a surgical procedure, it is no wonder.  But, man, I missed an entire MONTH!

Okay, back on track….

Small Talk Six at MomDot is a weekly Meme with a different topic.  You can learn more about the Meme and the list of topics for Small Talk Six 2010 by going here.

The rules are:

Grab a Small Talk Six button for your post and sidebar.  Then post on your blog your response to the assigned topic of the week.  Your response can be as brief or elaborate as you wish, but must be in 6, i.e. a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos, etc…

Today’s topic is “6 children’s books you love to read out loud.”

  1. My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch has been a favorite of mine since it was first published in 1990!
  2. And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street (Classic Seuss) Of course, I loved Dr. Seuss growing up, so my kids have the entire Seuss library.
  3. If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart My kids have a whole set of board books about Jesus from Candy Cane Press that they just love.
  4. Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! The Pigeon books, by Mo Willems, are my new favorite series.
  5. Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, said the Sloth Eric Carle’s books are masterpieces of artwork and storytelling.
  6. If You Give a Pig a Pancake I fell in love with Laura Numeroff’s books the first time I read them!

Can you tell I have toddlers?  LOL.  You can click on the book titles to go to Amazon (yes, I used my affiliate links) to learn more about the one’s I’ve listed.

How about you?  What are your favorite books to read aloud?

Be blessed,

Virginia

Small Talk Six: Sure Signs that you are stressed OUT

Woot!  Time for Small Talk Six again.

Your response can be as brief or elaborate as you wish, but must be in 6, i.e. a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos.

Today’s topic is “6 sure signs that you are stressed out.”

1. You start to ask yourself, “Who are these children and why do they keep calling me Mommy.”

2. You search the house frantically for a piece of chocolate, forgetting for a moment where you hid your stash.

3. You feel like someone has a jackhammer positioned directly above your temples.

4. You feel a sudden urge to poke someone in the eye with a hot French fry.

5. You are unable to smile when someone responds to your tales of the day with, “If that is the worst thing that happens all day, we’ll all be doing good.”

6. You smile at the person that cut you off on the highway and silently hope they get a ticket… as you make mental note of their license plate number and wonder if you can reach your cell phone.

Wanna play?  Head on over to Small Talk Six, grab the button, post your responses, and link up!

Be blessed,

Virginia
