Make A Wish Easter Egg Decorating

Two weeks!  Easter is just two weeks away!  I’m not very good at dying Easter eggs.  I know. I know.  It’s one of those things you are supposed to do with your children to create fun family memories, and all that jazz.  I’m just not good at it.  To start with, I am not good with boiling the eggs.  For the last couple of years, I’ve given the kids ceramic eggs to decorate.  So I probably haven’t boiled an egg in several years.  LOL. I didn’t boil them this year, either.  I cheated and baked them in the oven.  Ha!

Anyway, you might wonder why I would deviate from the ceramic egg bit and dye real eggs with the kids.  I’ll do anything for a good cause.  This year, Heinz Vinegar and PAAS have partnered to bring you the Easter Egg Decorator iPad® app (for those who don’t have an iPad, the app can also be accessed online via desktop or laptop computer).  Now through March 31, when you decorate and share a virtual Easter egg with family and friends using the free app, Heinz and PAAS will donate $1, up to $25,000, to Make-A-Wish®.  Did you know that you can make the Paas Dye colors more vibrant by adding Heinz vinegar?

Say what? I can decorate an egg without getting the dye on my fingers?  That’s my kid of app! Here’s the one I made…

How cute is that?  You can decorate a virtual egg, too, and help Make-A-Wish at the same time.  Simply search “PAAS/Heinz” in the iTunes App Store and download the app, or access it from your desktop or laptop computer at www.heinzpaaseaster.com.

This year PAAS has seven new decorating kits, including Volcano Eggsplosion, which uses melted crayon shavings to provide instant color, and Touch of Velvet, a kit that uses double stick adhesives and flocking powder to create fun, fuzzy shapes on your Easter creations!

I’m sure the Touch of Velvet and the Volcano Eggsplosion decorating kits are awesome.  We didn’t make it passed the Deggorating Doodles Kit.  I could have skipped the dye in the cups altogether, the just loved the Doodles!

I’d love to see the virtual egg you decorate for Make-A-Wish!

***Disclosure- I received Paas Easter Kits and Heinz Vinegar to facilitate this post***

The Blushing Violet

I was recently searching for unique mother’s jewelry when I discovered The Blushing Violet JewelryThe Blushing Violet, an Etsy shop owned and operated by Suzie.  Suzie creates the most beautiful beads in a pod pendant jewelry, tree pendants, and mother’s love pendants.  I was immediately in love with the beads in a pod pendants!  I wanted something to show off my *soon to be three* peas in the pod, and this pendant was just perfect.

The kidlets birthdays are in December and February, and the new baby is due in April. I knew I wanted the colors to match their birthstones, and that I wanted to keep them in birth order with Mister’s on top, Sister’s in the middle, and the new baby on the bottom.  I wasn’t sure, however, if I wanted faceted or smooth beads in my pendant. Suzie sent me a picture of what the beads looked like together.

I liked both, but I really liked how the smooth beads looked together.  I couldn’t have been more pleased with the way the pendant turned out, either.

I absolutely adore it!  I was extremely impressed with the level of professionalism that Suzie displayed in her communications, as well as with how quickly she replied to my questions.  She is a true gem, and I would highly recommend The Blushing Violet to anyone and everyone looking for a special gift for a mother, grandmother, or someone special in their life!

Many thanks to Suzie and The Blushing Violet for providing the beads in a pod pendant for inclusion in the Baby Shower Gift Guide and for offering a Beads in a Pod Pendant for giveaway (US & Canada) in the upcoming Baby Shower Bonanza Giveaway!

A Very Veggie Easter Collection

Would you believe that my mother-in-law already has crocuses blooming in the front yard?  It’s not even March yet!  Just like the crocuses, Easter is early this year!  To jump start the season, Veggie Tales has released A Very Veggie Easter Collection, which we received for review! With the popular “Twas the Night Before Easter” and “An Easter Carol” DVDs, it is a great way to remember and celebrate the significance of this holiday!

A Very Veggie Easter Collection

It also includes two popular CD’s, “A Very Veggie Easter” and “Hosanna!”

The set retails for $19.99 and makes a great Easter gift!  Stuff this one into the basket, and you are sure to see some smiles!

We actually loaned our entire VeggieTales collection to the church for the semester, and Sister cried over missing the Twas the Night Before Easter DVD, as it has been a family favorite since we reviewed it in 2011!  Sister calls it the “Hop Hop Bunnies” movie because of the silly song, “The Hopperena.” Both kidlets are loving the VeggieTales delights that are in this set, and loving that they can watch “hop hop bunnies” at home and at church!

The A Very Veggie Easter Collection is available on the http://veggietales.com site, on Amazon, at Walmart, and wherever VeggieTales movies are sold.

Learn more about VeggieTales by following VeggieTales on Facebook, VeggieTales on Twitter, and VeggieTales on Pinterest.

When Easter Eggs Hatch

I once saw this postcard as a kid… easter egg hatch
It always made me wonder what would happen if Easter eggs did hatch?

Easter Chicks

Seriously, though, in many parts of the world, including Central America, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and China, brightly hued birds are sold at market.  Some vendors believe that the colored chicks sell better than an average chick.

Jalapa 12 - Selling coloured chicks

Some vendors also include a matching carry case for the rainbow chick.

colored chicks

In most cases, a non-toxic dye is injected into the egg with care not to injure the growing chick. Apparently no harm befalls the fowl in the dying process.  colored chicks

The dye colors their down, which is replaced by feathers as they grow older.  When their feathers come in, the rainbow birds return to the typical coloring.

MULTI COLORED CHICKS

Which is good, I suppose, if you have a hacked off hatchling on your hands, mad at the world for mistaking him and his siblings for Peeps

Peeps Sake

There you have it.

(P.S.  Because I LOVED that postcard, I found it on Etsy and bought it!  I plan to frame it and use it with our Easter decor)
