ISO Sponsors- Handmade with Love Winter Giveaway

I really enjoyed the Holiday Giveaway Hop, so when Stacie of Simply Stacie announced that Simply Stacie, Little Yayas, Survey Junkie & Kelly’s Lucky You were putting together a brand new giveaway event that is coming this February called the Handmade with Love Winter Giveaway, I had to sign on.

The hop will start on February 2 at 12:01 am EST and end on February 6 at 11:59 pm EST.

Each participating blog will host their own giveaway(s). All the blogs will be linked up through the Handmade with Love Winter Giveaway linky so that readers can just hop from one blog to the next.  The theme of the giveaways will be handmade products or gift certificates to handmade stores.  Participating blogs must offer at least one prize; some may offer more.

I would LOVE to host more than one prize at Lady V dZine and am looking for prize sponsors.  Prizes given away must be handmade—sponsors can either offer a specific handmade item from their shop (Etsy, website, Artfire) or offer a gift certificate.   Sponsors are responsible for sending contest prizes to the winner(s) upon completion of the event.

If you would like more information on becoming a prize sponsor at Lady V dZine for the Handmade with Love Winter Giveaway Event, simply send me an email at virginia[at]ladyvdzine[dot]com or submit your query via my contact form.

Toddler Talk Tuesday

Jen over at The Suburban Mom is starting a new Meme, “Toddler Talk Tuesday.”  I thought I would her in celebrating the funny phrases by sharing my kids’ quirky comments.

Mister is well aware that Daddy is responsible for all things technical at home.

How do I know this?

Recently, when Channel 9 (PBS) started cutting out, because of the weather, he immediately stood up and said, “Daddy, come home please. Fix it channel 9. Mommy don’t know how dis work.”

Thanks for the vote of confidence, son!

So, what funny things have your toddlers said recently?

Small Talk Six Rewind 1

As I mentioned in my Small Talk Six July 17 post, I missed an entire MONTH of Small Talk Six.  Seriously?  Ugh.   But, because I think the topics were great, I am going to do a few Small Talk Six Rewinds, to cover the one’s I missed.

Small Talk Six at MomDot is a weekly Meme with a different topic.  You can learn more about the Meme and the list of topics for Small Talk Six 2010 by going here.

The rules are:

Grab a Small Talk Six button for your post and sidebar.  Then post on your blog your response to the assigned topic of the week.  Your response can be as brief or elaborate as you wish, but must be in 6, i.e. a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos, etc…

The topics I missed are…

June 26 – 6 ways you indulge or spoil your children

July 3 – 6 of your favorite things that are red, white, or blue

July 10 – 6 t-shirts you’ve read and loved

Today I will cover the “6 ways you indulge or spoil your children”

Of course, I will offer a disclaimer and say that my kids are not spoiled…. tee hee hee…

  1. My kids watch DVD’s.  Of course, they are educational (Sesame Street, Elmo, Barney, Bob the Builder, Hermie, etc, etc) and were it not for the DVD player, my laundry would NEVER get done.
  2. My kids get Smarties from Pastor Debbie every Sunday.  I am NOT a fan of giving candy to toddlers.   It’s just not good for them… their teeth, their BEHAVIOR.  However, Pastor Debbie LOVES to give all the kids candy from the candy jar after class on Sunday’s, so my kids are allowed to get in line and get one pack of Smarties.
  3. Mister gets to “help” me in the grocery store.  IF he is behaving appropriately, I allow him to walk along beside the cart and I hand him the canned goods or boxes and let him put them in the cart as we shop.  Then when we get to check out, I let him help put things on the conveyor.  IF all of that goes well, and he is still behaving, he gets to hold the receipt.  Yes, it makes my shopping trips twice, if not three times, as long.  But, because I am talking to him about the groceries, the prices, what we are going to make with them, etc, I feel like it is a teaching opportunity.
  4. Sister has an easy button, or pacifier.  She is 17 months old.  She went without it for several days in June, but it didn’t work out so well, so I let her have it back.  I figure she bottle broke herself at 10 months, if she wants her “Paci” she can have it for a few more months.
  5. My kids both love cheese slices, so we buy a LOT of them.  I usually buy one or two packs of American slices every WEEK.  I figure they need the calcium, and they eat enough fruit and vegetables to keep them from getting constipated, so what’s the harm?
  6. My kids think the silicone oven mitts are “quack quacks” and love to use them to “get” each other.  So, I let them.  I even bought one that looks like a ducks bill.  I know they are not intended as toys, but it’s just too stinking funny to watch them chase each other with an oven mitt on their hand going “Kak kak kak kak.”

Wow, I had a hard time thinking of six.  Maybe because it’s 2 a.m. when I am writing this post.  And maybe because my kids really are not spoiled… Perhaps I should ask my Mom or MIL Barb how I spoil or indulge my children.  I’m sure they could each come up with a few answers!

How about you?  How do you indulge or spoil your children?

Be blessed,

Virginia

Small Talk Six July 17

I missed an entire MONTH of Small Talk Six.  With Brian traveling, me traveling, two weddings, a family reunion, and a surgical procedure, it is no wonder.  But, man, I missed an entire MONTH!

Okay, back on track….

Small Talk Six at MomDot is a weekly Meme with a different topic.  You can learn more about the Meme and the list of topics for Small Talk Six 2010 by going here.

The rules are:

Today’s topic is “6 children’s books you love to read out loud.”

  1. My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch has been a favorite of mine since it was first published in 1990!
  2. And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street (Classic Seuss) Of course, I loved Dr. Seuss growing up, so my kids have the entire Seuss library.
  3. If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart My kids have a whole set of board books about Jesus from Candy Cane Press that they just love.
  4. Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! The Pigeon books, by Mo Willems, are my new favorite series.
  5. Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, said the Sloth Eric Carle’s books are masterpieces of artwork and storytelling.
  6. If You Give a Pig a Pancake I fell in love with Laura Numeroff’s books the first time I read them!

Can you tell I have toddlers?  LOL.  You can click on the book titles to go to Amazon (yes, I used my affiliate links) to learn more about the one’s I’ve listed.

How about you?  What are your favorite books to read aloud?

Be blessed,

Virginia
