I am so excited! I am officially going to run in the Hot Chocolate 15/5K in St. Louis on December 15th. My friend, Tammy, and I will be tackling the 5K leg of the race while our friends, Abby and Jennifer, are tackling the 15K.
The Hot Chocolate 15/5K started in Chicago and has since expanded to cities all over the country. This year, they have quite the line up of cities across the nation! In addition to the race in St. Louis, they are having races in Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, L.A., Minneapolis, Nashville, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Denver race was on October 6th, and judging from the photos on the Hot Chocolate 15K Facebook Page, it was a load of fun!
When my friend, Abby, first mentioned doing the Hot Chocolate Race in December, I thought she was a bit loco in la cabeza. Running? In December? Really?
Then I started thinking about the advantages of running a race in December. It’s cooler, making it easier to run. Especially for those who don’t sweat properly. Yep, I want to do it.
Then I saw the SWAG in the Goodie Bag for the race…
Um, yah. I’ll run for that.
THEN I saw the post race party info…
Hot chocolate? Fondue? Oh, yah, I will definitely run for that!
As if I needed any more reason to join this race (eh hem, I didn’t), the fact that the Hot Chocolate 15/5K supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities just put the whip cream on top of my hot chocolate! The Ronald McDonald House Charities holds a special place in my heart.
As mentioned in my one goal at a time post, I’d eventually like to train for a longer runs than a 5K. Maybe in 2014, I can join Abby and Jennifer in the Hot Chocolate 15K!
In the meantime, I’ve got to work on my run time. I can do the required 15minute mile for the race (I can do a 14 minute mile) but would like to improve to a 12 minute mile before race day. Think I can do it?
Stay tuned in the next couple of days, because I’ll have a promo code to share AND I get to give away a race entry!!! Score.
***Disclosure- as a member of the Hot Chocolate Blogger Team, I am receiving a complimentary entry to the race of my choice. All opinions, and pre-race excitement, are my own.***
