Ready, Set, Grover!

Sesame Street has added a new video game for preschoolers that promotes the development of healthy habits for life.   Ready, Set, Grover! promotes healthy habits for life including physical activity, good nutrition, hygiene, and rest and relaxation.

Ready, Set, Grover! blends the fun and friendly aspects of the Sesame Street universe with the ease of play of Wii to entertain and inform young children. Featuring Grover, Elmo and Abby Cadabby, young players are guided through mini-games designed to encourage healthy habits to last a lifetime.

The game features an exciting obstacle course and encourages fun things like stretching, jumping, and dancing, in addition to emphasizing the importance of eating a balanced diet, washing hands, getting plenty of rest, and learning to relax.

With 19 different games to play in four different locations (including The Street, The Community Garden, The Pond, and The Park) this video game is sure to get your little one off the couch and moving.

From catching fruit and vegetables, to dancing with Elmo and Grover, to rowing a boat, to playing freeze with Grover, this game is packed with plenty of preschool pleasure.

Just as with the previously released Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure (Retail $19.99) and Cookie’s Counting Carnival  (Retail $19.99) games—which we reviewed last year at Christmas time, and which the kids STILL play—this one comes with a Grover Wii Remote character cover.  And just as with the previous ones, we choose not to use it.  Mister and Sister both get frustrated by it, so we let them play with it separate from the Wii Remote.

Sister seems to like Ready, Set, Grover! better than Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure and Cookie’s Counting Carnival.  I am not sure if it is because she doesn’t sight recognize all of her letters and numbers yet, or if it is because she gets to dance with Elmo.  She loves to dance.  She will play Elmo’s A-to-Zoo and Cookie’s Counting Carnival IF Mister is playing, but if she is playing by herself, she wants Ready, Set, Grover!

Mister vacillates between the three, as to which is his favorite.  It really just depends on what mood he is in.  He really enjoys all three.

Read, Set, Grover! is available for Wii (Retail $39.99) and is also available for DS (Retail $29.99).

Thinking of doing a Sesame Street Christmas?  Why not get all three?
