Kindle Fire

Pre-order the Kindle Fire for just $199.

The long awaited tablet from Amazon runs a heavily modified version of Android.  It has 8GB storage, wi-fi, and is able to stream lots of stuff.  And, it is pretty comparable to the Color Nook that it is competing directly with.

The biggest differences, that I can see, between the Kindle Fire and the Nook Color, other than the $50 in price, are:

  • The Kindle Fire does NOT offer expandable storage, whereas the Nook Color does.
  • The Kindle Fire has a dual core processor, whereas the Nook Color does NOT.
  • The Kindle Fire has 22x the number of available apps than the Nook Color.

With the pending release of the Kindle Fire, Amazon has also re-vamped three favorites…

Comments

  1. I would love two of these for my boys, so they leave my ipad alone!

  2. I am tempted to get this, Amazon seems to be positioning themselves well for Christmas sales.

  3. Very nice! 🙂

  4. Holy what? I might just get this for my oldest for Christmas. He wants a laptop, but this would be cheaper and a lot easier to carry around with him!

  5. I’d be happy owning a Kindle.

  6. They just won’t quit coming out with the newest coolest things! I love the Kindle.

  7. That’s gonna be hot for Christmas!

  8. I’m a dinosaur. Just tell me, … would it enable me to use my Rogers Yahoo email when I am travelling?

Honestly, I don’t think I want an e-reader, or to view movies or even photos. I just want to be able to handle my email when I am travelling. Most hotels I go to now offer free wi-fi, so I think the Fire is all I’d want. Right!

Don’t laugh at me. By the way I don’t have a smart phone for that purpose.

    • I’m not sure if you would be able to use your Rogers email, but you could do what I do, and import your Rogers email to a gmail account and read everything in gmail.

  9. I soooo want to check this out…it’s affordable!

  10. I really want one of these!!

  11. Wow! They look awesome
