One of the issues that I deal with, secondary to being affected by Hay Wells Syndrome of the Ectodermal Dysplasias, is chronic environmental allergies and a condition called atrophic rhinitis. Atrophic rhinitis is a chronic inflammation of the nose which results in permanent changes in the mucosa of the nose. The number one recommended treatment for atrophic rhinitis is nasal irrigation using normal saline. Thus, I have become quite familiar with various nasal and sinus irrigation products over the years.
I know that OCEAN Saline Nasal Spray has been the #1 pharmacist recommended brand by Pharmacy Times for the past eight years. So, when I received an opportunity through The Product Review Place to review the OCEAN Complete® Sinus Irrigation product, I was eager to see how it might be different from the other sinus rinse products I have tried and despised.
About the product…
OCEAN Complete® Sinus Irrigation is a unique two-in-one nasal irrigator and nasal moisturizer to help relieve nasal and sinus pressure/congestion, while keeping the nasal passages soothed and moist….with a simple switch of the little nozzle! And unlike antihistamines or steroids. OCEAN Complete® is drug free too! There’s a special nozzle (orange tip) for easy-to-use nasal irrigation, and a unique mist applicator (white tip) for easy nasal moisturizing. Its unique, non-medicated salt blend formula is pre-mixed and ready-to-go for convenience — similar to the action of a neti pot but without the mess and hassle.
What I thought…
First of all, the primary reason I have despised other sinus rinse products is that they are dreadfully messy and time consuming. Not so with the Ocean Complete Sinus Irrigation. It couldn’t be simpler or quicker to use. While I did experience some overspray the first couple of times I used it, I quickly figured out how to use the product without showering my face.
The second reason that I previously disliked sinus rinses is that my nostrils are already chronically dry, and I hated that they felt even worse after doing a sinus rinse. The Ocean Complete Sinus Irrigation has a built in moisturizing mist. Simply switch caps (from the orange to white) and tada!
The third reason that I previously avoided did sinus rinses less frequently that I should is that I am a bit of a germaphobe. I never felt like the mix it yourself bottles were clean enough after I had used them once, and always imagined little microbes swimming in the solution and just waiting to attack my nasal passages. The Ocean Complete Sinus Irrigation is STERILE! No swimming microbes in there, which means no potential assaults by little marauders on my nasal passages. Simply wipe off the actuator tip after use and store it.
And you don’t have to have atrophic rhinitis to benefit from Ocean Complete Sinus Irrigation. It works great for allergies, cold/flu, sinusitis, and dry, irritated nasal passages.
What I would change…
Honest to goodness, I wouldn’t change a thing about the Ocean Complete Sinus Irrigation. I finally have a sinus irrigation product that I am willing to use!
