My Coupon Savings

As you may know, I recently started couponing again.  Yes, I said again.

I originally started couponing last year, but got so frustrated with my system that I threw all of my coupons out and quit.  A friend of mine showed me her couponing system, and it looked simple enough, so I started again.

Am I ever glad I did!

Here are a few pictures of my shopping trip to Walgreens this week.

I shopped Walgreens on 5/15. On my first transaction, I purchased:

On my third transaction, I purchased:
1 12.6 oz Pantene shampoo (on sale, 2/$7)
1 12.6 oz Pantene conditioner (on sale, 2/$7)
1 JetDry 8.45 oz (on sale, $3.49)
2 Sure Deodorant (on sale, 2/$3 with in ad coupon)
2 boxes Atkins bars (on sale, B1G1)
1 pack Walgreens brand paper plates (on sale $0.99, with in ad coupon)
I used…
(1) $4 RR from prior transaction
(2) $1/1 Sure Coupon (5/15 SS)
(1) $.75/1 JetDry Coupon (4/17 SS)

(2) Atkin’s $1/1 Coupon (5/15 SS)
Total=$11.48, plus I received a $1.50 RR and a $1 RR

I left after those three transactions because my DD was having a meltdown.  The next day, I realized that mid-toddler-meltdown, I accidentally failed to use a $1 RR that was expiring on 5/17.  So, I went back and did a fourth transaction for the week.

On my fourth transaction, I purchased:
6 Scotch Magic Tape (on sale, buy 1@$2.99, get 2 free)
4 Sure Deodorant (on sale, $2/3 with in ad coupon)
2 SoftSoap Body Wash (on sale, $2/6)
I used…
(6) $1/1 Scotch Magic Tape Coupons
(2) $1/1 Sure Coupon (5/15 SS)
(1) $1 RR from last week
Total=$4.46, plus I received a $4 RR for my next shopping trip.

Items purchased
1 box Cap’n Crunch
10 Sure Deodorant Sticks
1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor
1 bag of Godiva Chocolate Gems
2 boxes Atkins bars
1 bottle JetDry 8.45 oz
1 pack Walgreens brand paper plates
6 Scotch Magic Tape rolls
4 SoftSoap Body Wash
1 Pantene Shampoo
1 Pantene Conditioner
Total Spent=$26.18, plus I have a $4 RR and a $1.50 RR left over for this next week.

I am sure that somehow I could have rearranged my orders to save a little more, but I am still pleased with my savings.  Now, I did purchase one thing that we will not use.  Just one, and that is the Gillette ProGlide razor.  HOWEVER, I volunteer at a food pantry weekly, and if we can donate any items to the pantry for free or next-to-free, we certainly will!  So far, I have razors and panty liners to donate.

I also went to Target and use printable $3/3 Johnson’s coupons to get 9 bottles of Johnson’s Head-to-Toe Baby Wash for just $11.55.

  1. That is awesome. I’m looking for a big binder option for all my coupons.

  2. I enjoyed the post but I am curious as to the system/point of purchasing so many of the same item at one time i.e., deodorant…..

  3. awesome shopping.

  4. I envy you the patience you must have to do this!

  5. I do ever so enjoy the walmart/CVS trips that you can get so much stuff for so little- but I just have a hard time getting there on a consistent enough basis, so when I do it, I have to be sure to use my RR before I leave the store. Whether that means buying candy and pop or whatever – I just can’t put them back in my purse – otherwise I’m stuck losing free $ 🙂

You did fabulous. I really wish I can get into couponing again. Maybe when my daughter starts kindergarten, I will have some extra time to do so.

    Have a fabulous weekend!
