Maximize Your Workout #TeamX2

I mentioned yesterday that I finished my first 5k of the year last month.  I ended up walking the course, with two friends, in about 75 minutes.  I know.  That is not going to win me any medals.  I didn’t care.  I promised my friend I would not leave her behind, and I kept my promise.  Since the 5K was un-timed, I wasn’t after a PB (personal best) either.  My next 5K will be another story.  Though I am no where near able to compete and win a medal, I would love to set a new personal best.  To that end, I am using my gym membership again.  YAY!

Last week, I averaged 2.5 miles in 35 minutes on the elliptical.  At a 14 minute mile, that isn’t bad, but again, it’s not medal worthy or my personal best.   Yesterday I started my day with my first sample of the X2Performance supplement.

I was concerned that I wouldn’t like the taste of the X2Performance because I had read reviews that it tasted like sour oranges.  I don’t like ANYthing orange flavored because oranges give me migraines.  I was prepared to chug it while pinching my nose.  While the flavor is on the sour side, it was more like a liquid version of the Fun Dip I used to love as a kid.  😀

Okay, so I drank the X2Performance, puttered around the house for a bit, then loaded the kids and headed for the gym.

I did 2.81 miles in my 35 minutes on the elliptical.  That is less than a 12.5 minute mile!  Booyah!  That is 1.5 minutes shaved off per mile on the elliptical.  I may be able to do a 40 minute 5K after all!

I typically spend an hour at the gym when I go.  I do 35 minutes on the elliptical (30 minute workout with 5 minute cool down) and then spend the rest of the time doing strength training.  Yesterday I did my 35 minutes on the elliptical, did trunk and leg strength training, then went and did 50 flights of stairs in 20 minutes on the stair machine.

By the time I went to bed last night, my legs were still not sore, which really impressed me.  They were a bit sore this morning, but not nearly as sore as they were the day of The Color Run!

I’m seriously impressed with my X2Performance trial, and can’t wait to see how the rest of my training goes!
