Mallard Drake and Hen

We visited the Bass Pro Shops when we were in Branson, Missouri recently, and I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures of the Mallard Drake and Hen that had taken up residence there. .

Mallard Ducks

There is just something about the Mallards that makes me smile.   Perhaps it is the mallard drake call, that sounds like a nasaly squawk rather than a quack.  More likely it’s the reaction my kids give my brother when he does his uncannily lifelike duck call, without the aid of one of those plastic pieces that hunters use.

Mallard Drake

Whatever the case, when I see a Mallard, I smile.

Mallard Hen

Don’t you?

Photos shot with my Canon Elph, which is almost always in my back pocket or purse.
