You all know I like smoothies. I usually make my own, however, there are times that I want a smoothie that I am either A) not in a place where I can make one, or B) really pressed for time. I learned about Sherwood Valley Juice Company’s instant smoothies recently, and was immediately intrigued.
The instant smoothie uses food that I am familiar with and often include in my own homemade smoothies, including apples, blueberries, spinach, and carrots to name just a few. The produce is freeze-dried and turned into powder, then blended into delicious combinations that are fortified with pea protein and oat bran. It’s gluten, soy, and dairy free with no artificial additives.
Everything for a healthy smoothie is in a single serve pouch. They took out the water, you add it back.
But is it really good?
Sherwood Valley Juice Company sent me a four pouch instant smoothies sampler to try out.
The included flavors are Citrus Sunrise, Cascade Berry, Tradewind Islands, and Farmer’s Market Blend. The Citrus Sunrise contains orange, so I am saving that one for Hubs. I don’t do orange.
The instructions say to add 12 ounces of chilled water in a water bottle and shake vigorously or use a blender. I used a butter knife to blend it, because I couldn’t figure out where Hubs put the wand blender. It blended well (i.e. no lumps) and was delish! My favorite is the Cascade Berry, which is a blend of blueberries, raspberries, apple, banana, carrot, orange, oat bran and pea protein. Seriously good!
Individual pouches run $3.79 each, but you can get the sampler pack (one of each of the four flavors) for $9.99 with free shipping.
I would love to see these on the shelves at Whole Foods!
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received the Instant Smoothies for free from Sherwood Valley Juice Company as coordinated by Deep Creek Public Relations in consideration for review publication.
