I have always dreamed about visiting the East Coast in the Fall and staying at a Bed & Breakfast. I love Bed & Breakfast’s. I love to learn the stories behind how each one came to exist as a Bed & Breakfast. I recently received a complimentary copy of the I LOVE INNS guide to “Bed & Breakfast and Country Inns.” It was there that I found Parkside on Ellery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. What a gorgeous place! I am adding Parkside on Ellery to my Bucket List.
Circa 1865. Built in 1865 and renovated for modern comforts, Parkside on Ellery boasts all the comforts of home and the privacy of a hotel. This bed and breakfast in Cambridge, Massachusetts is just a ten-minute walk to Harvard Square. It is perfectly located for a day trip to historic Boston. Three elegant guest bedrooms are well appointed and feature private entrances and Internet access. The Victorian Room has dark wood furnishings and warm colors. A crisp, white décor awaits in the cheery Cambridge Room and a wall of shelves lined with books is inviting in the rich Scholar Room. A continental breakfast is served in-room.

Often times, you do not have to travel far from home to find a Bed & Breakfast. One of the local Bed & Breakfasts that I would love to stay at is The Beall Mansion in Alton, Illinois.
Circa 1903. An eclectic blend of Neoclassic, Georgian and Greek Revival styles, the mansion was designed as a wedding gift by world renown architect, Lucas Pfeiffenberger. Original woodwork, eleven and a half-foot ceilings, leaded-glass windows, pocket doors, crystal chandeliers and imported marble and bronze statuary reflect the era’s opulence. Elegantly appointed guest bedrooms are unique in size and decor. Each includes a private bath with shower and clawfoot tub or whirlpool for two, imported marble floor and chandelier. Voted “Illinois Best Bed & Breakfast” by Illinois Magazine’s Readers Poll.

I would also love to visit Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, which is home to several really neat B&B’s.
